    Jeff,
That somewhat helps. I will try to explain this some more. When the gate on the 211 is lowered, that serves the same purpose that this "lip" of fiberglass serves on the 196. Look at the second picture of the 211. If you were to fill in that void with fiberglass, that would create the same lip as the one found on the current 196. (It is tough to explain this by words on the computer!) Does anyone have a picture of the boat from the underside? This is where you would get a much better understanding of it all.

I spoke with a Highly respected Correct Craft rep today and he said " the Hydro-Gate will NOT be an option on the 196 for 2005...period". I hope this helps clear up some of the questions on this post. I'm suppose to hear on Monday what other boats if any this option would be available. I will reply when I get the information.

          Midohio,
I also heard that if it gets passed and becomes an option, it will probably only make it onto the promo boats.

Vargus that picture helps alot. Where the gate comes down, the area is usually filled in with fiberglass (on the 196 hull) On the boat with the gate installed it looks just like the above picture.

Thank you all for the detailed explanation and pictures. I just had the opportunity to check the '05 196 and SV211 side by side. I was explained how the gate worked and was able to clearly see the differences of the lip on the 196 and the one that corresponds to the SV211 with the gate lowered.

My uneducated guess on how the gate worked was completely erroneous, which is why I had asked all of the previous questions.

skinautique, if they only offer it on the promo boats the 4 promo members that I have will not be happy if they offer that as an option now. We made sure that there would be no further changes in 2005 so my promo guys stepped up and ordered their promo boats early to help fill Correct Crafts schedule. All of my 2005 promo boats arrive next week. And if they offer it as an add-on after the fact (which I doubt) how will that affect the tests that you were talking about them doing next week? I hope that they don't do as you are stating...but time will tell. It will be a huge headache for the dealers that have sold 2005 models already and have told the cutomers that there are no further changes. I for one would not be happy as a customer.

Midohio, why do you say you needed new product bad? Do you feel that CC is falling behind its competitors?

SGY, As a dealer it is always nice to have a new product each year so current or new customers have a reason to come to your showroom or demos. The SV211 has been very popular and was a great addition last year. Everyone looked forward to going to the boat shows to see the new boat. We dont have anything like that this year. For some of the people there is not a great reason to upgrade to a new boat if you already have a newer boat. This is just my opinion.....with some of the other manufactures that came out with new products customers are calling and coming to look, consider or purchase. Correct Craft needs to stay on the cutting edge. Since we started 3 years ago we sell about 15 196's a year. I'm concerned about the number we will sell in 2005.

I feel that I should retract part of my comment from above. It was wrong to say that a manufacture would not make any changes to a product mid-season. A manufacture can and should make any changes to improve their products.

It's gotta be tough though. On the one hand, you have the desire for new product. On the other hand, the consumer doesn't want to buy a brand new 206 and then have CC make hull changes the very next year causing a decrease in value and increase in desire to buy a new boat. At least CC is consistent with their changes. Everyone I've spoken with says you can expect a hull change in five or six years.

As a promo person in the SCR, I understand that our promo boats will be retro fitted w/ the new gate at some time in the future. I'm going to a 206 this year so I'm interested to see what effect the gate has on this particular boat.

jdarwin, I would suspect that the hydro gate wont' have any effect on the slalom wake since it will mimick the lip or hook on the back of the boat. But I could be wrong. It should have a nice impact on the trick wake as well as the wakeboard wake. Hopefully they will put this on the 206--it would be a nice addition. Let us know what you find out.
