1999 Sport vs 1999 Pro Air?

    Are these the same hulls?

What are differences besides graphics and cosmetics?

Newbie...getting ready to buy in next 60 days.

    Thanks!

Thanks Air Tool, so if I'm looking at a sport with a nicer tower and ballast system I'm a step ahead vs a ProAir of the same year and bascially have the same boat?

My understanding is the two boats have different hull designs (below water), although I do not see it explained in the 1999 Catalog (link above). The specs make them look very similar - same length, width and weight. The Sport / Air have the same hull design as the tournament slalom boat. The Pro Air was a hull designed more for wakeboarding. Someone on this site can better explain or search on "Pro and Air" on the search bar

I think it is TSC vs TWC as shown in the brochure....not sure which boat has which. They didn't include that in the specs table!!!

Sport is on the TSC (surface= slalom) pro air is on the TWC (wake) hull. I have no personal experience with the twc hull and the pro air but have read posts that complain about handling and pp issues with the pro air. In my thoughts if it was a good design CC wouldnt have dropped it after several years.

It was a great idea to cater a direct drive to the wakeboard crowd but the reality was/is a rear engine (1K weight at the very rear of the boat) wake can't be created by a center engine boat. CC realized after a short time the Pro Air didn't meet the needs of the die hard wakeboarder and it was a terrible slalom boat so it was short lived.

Differences in the Sport and Pro Air were all below the rubrail. The Sport was a stretched 90-96 hull and the Pro Air hull was radical to say the least. There were multiple lifting strakes and perhaps the strangest feature of all were the wedge shaped cut outs mid ship which were designed as a tilt point to shove the transom of the boat down into the water at slower wakeboard speeds. I never slalomed behind this boat. One set behind it with jumpers let me know a slalom set wasn't a good idea.
