I have had tow straps on mine since I bought the boat 9 years ago. I'll have to take a picture when I get home. I have a ramlin trailer and the straps go across the back (crisscrossing), hooking from the platform braces to a hook on the trailer. There are silicon pads that fit against the boat to prevent scratching. My trailer bounces a lot if I don't have the correct air pressure and the straps prevent the boat from bouncing against the fender. I would not tow far without them.

Also, I got the boat from White Lake, who put them on there. If they are OK with hooking to the platform, I guess I am too.

You're already back there pulling installing the drain plug so why not strap it down? The peace of mind is worth it. Funny how nobody thinks an emergency is ever going to happen to them.
