    Color Combinations

Do you feel that color affects sales? Because our dealer still has two DD's leftover and both are very conservative colors, so conservative, kinda ugly...

Then I see MC's w/ their glitter thing and that frankly looks pretty hot. So for someone whos got 70K and doesn't know much and is basing final desicion on the "cool" factor, they would go with the hotter look. So do you think color affects your sales at all?

Yes I think that colors do affect sales, but for stock boats we try to stay on the conservative side. Everyone seems to want to custom design their boats now. We try to stock the colors that we sold the previous year. It is really just a guessing game for the dealers.

Abun....Yes we did. The customer said he didnt like the picture of it but when he saw it in person he was hooked. We sold it over 6 weeks ago. We didnt have any left over 2004 boats. I like your color combination too. I will take some pics and post them of some of the new color combinations we have coming in soon.

Hey Midohio, in speaking with John LeMond at Watercraft sales in Wisconsin, I understand that two things make or break a season: a. model selection and b. color selection. Do you agree?

Also, without hijacking this thread too much, I would like to get your read on this whole dealership issue. On MBO, some guy is peeved because the Marina owner in NW Indiana is booting him off of his slip at the marina to make room for boat buying customers. The guy getting booted is a former Nautigue owner who just purchased a Bu. What do you think of using slips on a marina as a selling tool? Do you give preferential service to boat buying customers? Do you exclude folks from service if they don't buy a boat from you? Just curious.

SGY, I will say this....we are about service. So we try to take care of everyone regardless of what type of boat they own. If someone bought a boat from us we will go over and beyond to take care of them. We would not exclude anyone.

That's exactly why you should open a dealership in the Denver area.

I had a MC dealer tell me to go fish because I bought a Nautique and not a MC from him. Talk about a negative experience.

This is something that I just don't understand about dealerships. I can understand a dealership giving priority (to a point) to people who purchased boats from thier dealership, but I can't understand why any dealership would just plain deny service to ANYONE. Don't they want to make money through servicing the boat? I can't figure this one out.
I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

If we can be of service to you, please contact us anytime!

Our dealer is also a huge marina w/ hundreds of boat. About 75% Cobalt, they're deal them too. And about 20% Nautiques. However there are still some nice MC's and Malibus there. I'm sure he gives priority, but not to the point where a MC owner cant get a slip.

However, when it comes to service, whether you have a nautique or not, he serves the people who buy from him over the nautique owner who didn't.

A friend of mine is a MC dealer. He has a few Nautiques of people he knows will buy a boat from him when they are ready. He does maintence service on these boats at little to no-charge. Why - the boat sale will come in time and the pr these people give him is priceless. Sorry I can't the Nautique world where this is. Our local CC dealer will work on any brand inboard providing parts avalabilty, why it shows how good their service department is. If you have bought more than one bought you may have heard the saying," sales sells the first boat, service sells the second"

A friend of mine works in the office of an auto dealer and he has told me many times the dealer makes as much in the service department as in sales.

Turn away enough customers and sooner or later you won't have a business.

Getting back to colors... Would anyone care to see CC offer "classic colors" on the boats. Like Yucatan Yellow or Seafoam green or Meridian Blue, Dragon Red, etc...

I have previous thread about custom colors - which it looks like CC will not do. My family's old 66 CC Skylark Ski boat is seafoam green and I'd love to see one of the new boats in that color. Especially sitting next to our old one!!!

Anyway, I was just curious to see if anyone would care to see an classic color offered...

MidOhio, do you think anyone would order it if offered?

                        Best wishes to everyone!

I think an old classic color like that would be cool. CC always has one special, new, unique color of their year. 04 was fusion green, 03 was orange, and so on... so maybe they could use an old color for their special.

Speaking of classy colors, I though wineberry was very classic, too bad it didn't sell.

On that thought, maybe CC won't do a classy color...

I think that the classic colors...red, black, and a standard blue probably help resale because they aren't real trendy...however, there are a lot of people buying boats who want the trend of today. I am not sure what this will do to the traditions of tomorrow. I bought a boat with unusual colors...yellow/teal and I have an orange Land rover for a tow vehicle...so there are those of us out there who will be in the market for something different. The black and orange 210 at MD was sick! I'm not sure I'll be saying that in 5 years though...something else may catch my eye. Anybody have opinions on the metalflake that MC is using in 05?
