I like the metal flake Mastercrafts.... Loved the Black and Orange 210.

Does color affect sales.....no question about it. I have seen boats that are just so unappealing to me, I wouldn't pay close to market value for them.

But as it is said, what is one mans art....is another mans......

Classic colors are the only way to go IMHO, eye-popping  colors look good new and today but 5-10 years down the road they will most likely be faded and in need of maintenance. Keep it simple and keep it clean. I would never buy an orange or neon green or bright yellow boat.
      I don\'t care.

I might have said the same thing OTW. My inlaws neighbor has a Ski Tique and it is mostly white but gold acents...it's a really cool looking old nautique. Their lake is actually littered with nautiques...most of them older.

I'll bet that most of us wouldn't recognize a classic cc color if we saw it. Though I have seen yellow, baby blue and red nautiques of the early seventies and late sixties. But I don;t think the color alone would make the boat nostalgic. It would have to retro-designed as well.

Interestingly enough, I guess CC tried something retro with the Paragon. I don;t think it worked in that application, but might if the design and materials was right.

Silver is the most popular color in the auto industry. I'd like to see a reall bright silver Nautique. And I thought metalflake was the hottest thing around when it came out on Glastrons in the early seventies. But Jeff Warner says neither silver or metalflake can keep their shine or pizazz long enough for the 5 year promiss. Are CC's standards really so high? I see a lot of silver metalflake bass boats.

            redelf75,
You mention the Paragon. I saw one at a boat show in '94 and those things were awesome!!! I build wooden kayaks in my free time and I often dream about doing the ultamate project - Refitting my '94 nautique deck paragon style!!!! (Though my better half would never allow it!) What a fantastic mix of old and new!

              badb,

I liked the concept of blending old and new too, but I just didn't think it worked with the Paragon. I never liked the sloped stern of the Nautiques of that era and maybe that was what threw me off.

I wonder how those boats have held up over the years....

See this link for paragon pictures....

The Paragon is a beautiful boat. You really need to see one in person to appreciate it, pictures just don't do it justice. I think that may have been one reason it didn't sell well. (The link above mentions they only made 10 paragons.) I would think another would have been the thought of keeping that wood looking good...

My family is the original owners of a 1966 16' Correct Craft Skylark and we'd LOVE to see Correct Craft "honor" the era that brought us the first Ski Nautique - the 60's.

I'd love to see CC offer the 196 in some of the classic 60's colors with lots of chrome and/or brushed aluminum accents - rub rail, windshield frame, around the gauges, on the wheel, etc. Maybe put a set of horns on the bow... Fiberglass the engine cover (just the top of the clamshell) painted to match the hull...

Car companies pull off the retro-look with cars like the Prowler, Ford's GT40 and Thunderbird, Chevy's SSR, etc... Why not do it with a boat? Using the existing hull, with just some paint and minor changes you could pull it off.

Anyone from CC out there listening...?

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

I would like for CC to offer more stripes on the Team 211 much like the 210. I would like a change up color in the hull instead of it only being one solid color. I am considering custom painting my new boat when it gets here. Has anyone ever done that before?
