    226 vs maristar 230

any of y'all have an informed view of the similarities and differences between the 226 vs the maristar 230? we need a big water boat for cruising, tubing for the kids, amateur level wakeboarding and the rare free ski slalom set. ride in rough water, quality of wakeboarding wake, reliability and comfort/room are key variables. thinking of picking up a one or two year old used one. any guidance? thanks.

The 226 is like a dream to drive. There is virtually no bow rise which is a huge plus. The wakeboarding wakes are more than adequate all the way through the professional level. Even without ballast, there is still a large wake for most people. I can go on and on about the 226 but I will just mention a couple of quick things: The CC boats have recieved the JD Powers Award for all five categories for the past two years in a row and PCM won the award last year for highest satisfaction, ample performance and reliability, etc. You can check those out at jdpowers.com
These are from actual owners of the boats. Hope that helps to get you started.

I don't have any experience with the MC, but I can tell you the 226 is by far the smoothest boat I've ever driven. Even in massive chop the boat feels like it's on glass.

as a technition i've worked on many boats is different shapes and sizes in the past along with all of the major brands. i have come to find out every boat manufact. has their issues and every boat has their flaws but you lightly strike the hull side of a cc with your fist and then to all of the "brand x's" the same and the sound alone should tell you something. the "what lies benieth" factor should be put into play also when making your decision. along with the superior craftsmanship, power plant and creature comfort. also look at a blue book value of a 5 year old cc and then a "brand x" and see which prevails in resale value. a cc is in a feild of its own. you see someone pull up to a dock in a "brand x" and they get looks but wait till they see you dock in a cc. boda-bing
