Noob about to join the club with a 2007 220

Hi All,

For years I've been dreaming about buying a Nautique and the time has finally come. I've come across a 2007 Sport Nautique 220 TE with 56 hours on it. It looks brand new. I'm psyched!

Do people think this seems fair? It really has nothing extra on it, no bimini top, no covers (travel or storage) so for the most part it's just a stock 220 with a trailer (not the super nice trailer either). The guy is asking $45k and I think I can get it for $42k. It has the ZR6 390hp engine.

I'll leave it to others here to comment on the price, although that price doesn't seem too far out of line to me. There is no such thing as a Sport Nautique 220. If it is a 220, it is a Super Air Nautique.

The ZR6 engine upgrade is a nice upgrade. It is a pricy upgrade, too.

You have your horsepower rating wrong though. In 2007, the ZR6 was rated at 375HP, not 390HP. The ZR6 didn't go to 390 until '08.

Yeah, I knew it was in that upper 300 hp range but wasn't exactly sure since I've been looking at so many boats lately. Is the 220 worth it at the smaller of the two engines?

What about the 2008 210, did it come with two engine options or just one?

Well, I spent a few days in a 2009 220 this summer with the Excalibur 343HP engine, and it was fine. As long as the boat has the correct prop, I wouldn't worry about getting one with the Excalibur or the ZR6.

2008 is a good year for the 210. I would steer clear of a 2007 210 because it has the first iteration of the new deck, which had the 220-like engine hump in the rear seating. In 2008, the back seat was again made flat across the back, and the design remains the same through today. See the attached pictures for clarification. The one on the left is a 2008 210. The one on the right is a 2007 210.

The 2008 210 came with the Excalibur 343HP engine or the ZR6 390HP engine. In the 210, it will be pretty rare to find a ZR6 since it is a smaller boat, relatively speaking.

Well, I bailed out on the 220 today as the owner said he "thought" it had the larger engine but when we double checked it had the Excalibur and not the ZR6. That combined with the color combo, which I wasn't in love with made me decide to keep looking until I find a 220 with the ZR-6 engine.

Too far away from me. I did find an 07 SANTE 220 in Tenneseee for just about that price, actually less. If I were going to buy a boat that far away from me, I'd probably opt for the 220 over the 210. Not sure how I feel about the green, either.

Just curious why you prefer the 220 over the 210 so much? Is it the room you believe you will be gaining? The 210 has a wider beam than the 220 which makes up the difference in length. Also the 2008 and up 210 doesn't have the hump in the back seat which is nice not having. I tested both boats when I was looking for my first and found the 210 fit my needs better. The wake on the 210 was nicer in my opinion and didn't fluctuate as much as the 220 wake with side to side movement. I had an 07 first and now an 08 and definately love not having the hump in the rear seat. I think the demand for 210's is higher than the 220's and will help you down the road for resale value as well. They are both great boats though and I am sure you won't be disappointed with whichever you end up with. These are just my opions and thought I would let you know in case you find a 210 you might be intersted in. Good luck in your search.
