Hi everyone, I'm a new member to the PN site and posted an article and pic of my new 2008 SANTE 210/wZR6 recently in the SHOW US forum. I'm a VERY proud Nautique owner and wanted to share with you how I ended up with my new 08 210 I never intended to buy.
This is additional info. to my last post in the show us forum if you haven't read it.
My boat search was 6 months long and I was a former MC owner, my ps190 had 700 hrs and ran like a champ it was a very solid boat. I was 90% sure my next boat would be a MC as well as I really happy with it and had no issues at all. But, after doing a ton of research and boat searching I was now convinced I would buy a Nautique. Thanks again to Jeff and all the PN members for posting so much helpful information.
My plan was to buy a Nautique last spring and I actually had a 2000 SAN lined up from a local dealer, a couple of weeks later I tore my bicep tendon and had to have surgery(April), the Doc said my riding season was going to be done for the year. Everything in my world was turned upside down for quite a while and when I talked to the dealer about a month later of course it had been sold, to a PN member in fact.
I was willing to drive up to 1000 miles to find a used SAN but living in Canada right above North Dakota this was an huge challenge. I did find a 2003 SANTE in NE that I was close to purchasing that was just over a 1000 miles away but there were no other boats in the area to look at if I wasn't happy with it's condition, plus it was a long haul on a single axel trailer. That 2003 SANTE was purchased by another PN member as well. It was now August I was waiting for a customer to trade in his 2007 SANTE 210 to my local dealer but after a month of waiting the customer decided he was going to hold off for a while. I couldn't believe how hard it was to find a used SAN, lots of used MC & BU's around.
This is where my boat story started to GO SOUTH! Out of pure frustration from trying to find a used SAN for 6 months within a 1000 miles of my house with no luck at all I found a 08 VLX demo with 120hrs from a dealer 8 hours away. We worked out a price over the phone but it was still more than I really wanted to spend on a boat. But for being a new demo boat it was a great deal so was willing to go for it. I felt good about this decision but NOT great. With no papers signed yet and a last resort attempt I phoned a Nautique dealer 8 hours away looking for a used SAN, they replied with the usual no but we have new ones. I said I would absolutely love a new one but they are way more than I can afford. The dealer told me they had a leftover 08 SANTE 210 with the ZR6 for a great price, so playin along I asked him how much knowing this conversation was already was over. He said the owner wants it gone and when he told me the price I almost dropped the phone!!! I couldn't believe it was only $1500 more than the 08 VLX demo with 120hrs and this 210 SANTE was NEW & had the ZR6 to boot! I of course jumped all over the deal and even though I was spending a ton of money, if you had seen me then you would have thought I won the lottery.
The only catch to this deal was this was not the closest dealer to me! I contacted my local dealer prior to my purchase to see if he had any leftover 08 210's (none left) that he could come close to in price and if there would be any problem with servicing this boat. If there had been any issues at all with service or my local dealer could even come within a couple of thousand dollars of this deal I would have backed out, I will ALWAYS support my local dealer if I can. He told me I would be crazy not to buy the boat and would service it no problem at all probably not even knowing that he just gained a customer for life by doing so! Thanks Porat!
I still can't beleive I ended up buying a new 210 as this was never my initial intention but I couldn't be happier I did. I only had a chance to get the boat out on the water twice before I had to put it in storage for the winter but I fell in love with my 210. I haven't even had a chance to ride behind yet as I was still recovering from my bicep tear so I'm pumped for spring like you wouldn't believe!!! I can't wait to ride!
I am very proud to be a Nautique owner!
Cheers!
