    Drilling holes in extended pylon?

Last year I added two pairs of speakers to the top of my extnded pylon, and then spent the summer with the speakers run down the pylon to the floor of my 87 barefoot nautique and then between the cooler and driver seat up to the amp in the bow. However, this year I'm interested in cleaning up this project. Would drilling a hole at the top and bottom of the pylon fir wires affect the integrity of the pylon under stress? Also, my only option then is to run the wires into the engine compartment and then up to the bow along the battery wires into the battery box, I feel likethat close proximity of the speaker wire to power wires is too much interference, but i can't think of many other options...

I believe the pylon's are solid and not hollow, so drilling a hole through one might be darn near impossible.

not an issue with the extened pylon if it is hollow but usually they fit over and existing pylon that is solid, now if it's off to the side and clamped and hollow then you don't have anything to worry about strength wise in less you drilling larger than a 1/4" hole threw one side.
