    2009 or 2010 SAN210

Hi all, I recently sold my stern drive and I'm researching my first wake boat purchase and this board has been very helpful. Like most people I'm debating a Nautique, Malibu or Mastercraft but I've pretty much decided on a 210. There is a 2009 that I'm looking at or a 2010. I think I can get a decent deal on the 2009 but I have a few questions.

    1. Is there anything new on the 2010 that would make it worth the extra expense, for instance the 2009 I'm looking at doesn't have the Linc system.
    2. Is the FCT 1 tower signficantly worse than the FCT 3 or 4?

    Thanks in advance.

LINC system is going to be the main difference between the 2009 and 2010 210 Team Edition boats. Depending on the price, it may be worth the extra money for the LINC system. It is incredibly cool.

I have the LINC system on mine I dont think its absolutely necessary, I actually didnt want it on my boat coz im afraid the extra electronic stuff may cost problems down the road.

I dont think the FCT 1 is worse than others, I actually think its the better one since they still kept the FCT1 for the Byerly Icon edition

Thanks for your help. Now that you have the Linc system , are you happy with it?

Yea Im happy with the LINC so far, just that it takes a bit of time for it to load up when you start the boat so Im trying to tell myself not to completely turn off the boat(like just turn off the engine not the LINC) through out the day until Im back in the docks... but it did happen once that the LINC didnt boot up.

I believe there should be more information about different software release version of the LINC, and there should be a separate button for volume so I dont have to hit the music screen every-time before I can adjust the volume.

The good new features I like are speed sensitive volume, and self diagnostic tools

Has anyone done this yet? I am having the same problem as the OP. I have never owned a boat, but anxious to get a SANTE 210. Just not sure which year would be best. I have seen some very good deals out there compared to the new ones. I can get a new 2010 for about $67K.

Go with the 09'. It is still a new boat. I am not totally convinced on the Linc system.....

Its cool when a post you start awhile ago comes back to life! I went with 2010 for a few reasons, the 2009 I was considering at the time did not come with the FCT3 and Z5 which I wanted and it also didn't have the Linc system. While I did spend a bit more on the 2010 (frankly the discount offered on the 2009 wasn't big enough), I don't regret it at all. I think the Linc system is great, very intuitive and it looks sick, especially the nighttime setting. Its also not a touch screen so I have less concerns about longer term reliability.

If you have to put your tower down a lot then there is a big difference in the FCT 1 & 3 towers...
The FCT 3 is very easy to put down and up by yourself. The FCT 1 is going to take 2 or 3 people and dont let the baby slip out of your hands when putting down

I have enjoyed the LINC system.

Enjoy the SANTE 210 - you are going to have a great time on the water!

I had the opportunity to talk with one of the creators of the linc system, while I was in Reno, and actually asked that question. I was told you could put a linc system in a 09, but there would be a lot of adaptions to need. Mainly - the entire dash layout is different. You could maybe fabricate an add on somehow - maybe.....
I am not sold on the linc system. If it goes out (which it did at the Reno competition, only for short times and it re-booted fine after a complete shutdown of the boat), you have no status or speed control.

Linc system is a neat idea - just think it needs tweaking though.....

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Still exploring this, kinda leaning more towards a '10 with the Linc. Does the Linc have a memory card reader or USB plug that would let it be upgraded? Not sure if it is offered, but should be. I have a Pioneer Nav system on my truck, when new maps/software updates/etc come out, I can download the updates and load it up. Does the Linc allow for this, something similar?
