Weighing a 93-97 Sport Nautique? How to avoid Porpoising?

    Hello,

I have a 94 Sport Nautique used for wakeboarding. How do you weigh your 93-97 Sport Nautique?

I am using about 700lbs hidden behind the rear seats. 250lbs under the bow. 500lb water sac in the ski locker and 300lbs hidden behind the sidewall near the drivers and passenger seats.

    So about 1750lbs of weight.

The wake is great at 21mph+. It washes up pretty good at 19mph. But generally we ride at 22+mph and it is top notch.

The one issue I have is porposing or bouncing at anything above 31mph when cruising.

Is there anyway to fix this porposing? I don't want to add any more weight to the front as this seems to be the common advice on the boards. I am already well over the amount of weight that I want to run. (Please don't turn this into a water vs lead weight discussion - I know the risks of running lead).

    Thanks
    Kevin

With all the weight out of your boat note the angle the boat sits at in the water, possibly using a level. Then when you put the weight back in try to keep the angle close to the same, just like they designed it. This may not be the way to make your wake the largest, but it will keep it running through the water with the least drag they way the way the hull was originally designed. Usually more weight in back makes a larger wake, but makes it porpoise at higher speeds or just when you hit some boat wake.
