I have just joined this group, and although I havent commented on too many posts I have spent hours reading up on the various topics. (thank you wake fun and wakemaaster for descriptive topics regarding ballast installation).
I am in the process of purchasing a 2002 supersport and was looking for input. I have done a fair amount of research on the boat and am familiar with certain problems they have (primarily the digital guages faltering) but was wondering if there are any other things to be worried about. This particular boat has just under 200 hrs on it, was well maintained, rarely pulled a skiier and was mainly used for cruising the lake over the last few years.
I plan on adding a new dimensions tower OEM, as well as the lights (light bar and anchor light on the tower), having the company prewire for speakers etc, but I had a few questions regarding wakeboard racks. With my current boat I have always had problems with the boards shifting or even falling while hitting chop. Does anyone have any knowledge of problems like this with the new dimension tower racks, or are there other racks that are preferable? I have read about the flight clips in the owners manual? How do those work? I plan on using endless wave racks for my wake surfboards. Does anyone have any experience with that company? ALso, on the new dimensions website they only have pictures of their biminis on maastercrafts. Does anyone know if they make them for the SS/SAN? (I am also asking the company all of these questions so I can update this if nobody knows for general information)
As far as speakers go, I am looking at the wet sounds. Havent decided on the configuration yet, but from what I have heard these seem like some of the best in the business. Any opinions on wet sounds or other companies?
Ballast systems......... This seems to be one of the most talked about subjects on this forum, so I plan on beating a dead horse. My thought is to get Mike at Fly High to make custom sacks for each side of the V-drive, and one for the ski locker and one for the bow.. I will be using the reversible jabsco ballast puppies pumps (new ones with the yellow or green impellar), individual vents for each, but i am not sure if I use a single manifold/through hull intake/discharge for all of the pumps or if each pump need a separate though hull? Also I plan on putting a stop **** on each through hull (scares the crap out of me to drill a hole through the hull without a way to shut off waterflow), and on the bottom should I put normal through-hull or scuppers? I am replacing the plastic through-hulls with the stainless steel hardware (like the look and more durable). I plan on placing the swich panel on a dedicated breaker box, and locating the switches on the panel below the throttle box. Any ideas or schematics showing the manifolds, intake designs, wiring etc. would be much appreciated.
Battery requirements... Where are the stock batteries located on the SS/SAN? I read somewhere in the front???? I plan on putting a several battery bank on a perco switch to help with the power requirements. Any recommendations on the type/brand etc of the batteries? Any horror stories or amazing results?
Lastly, does anyone know of a certified natique mechanic/dealer in AZ? I am a bit anal about who touches my toys.
If there are any other projects, additions, etc which has made you love your SS/SAN even more than the day you bought it please loet me know. I thank you in advance for helping me make this the best boat I have ever owned.
