Considering a new boat , but not sure on engines. My current GT40 is nice but sometimes I feel like I could use just a bit more!

If you are running alot of extra ballast, you might want to consider upgrading the engine. If you are running it with stock ballast, you will have plenty of power with the 330 hp. -
The GT-40 is for sure a strong motor, but, the 6.0L is a monster in a 210. I have been in an 04 SANTE with the 6.0 ,with the ballast, 900lbs of lead, and 5 people in the boat, and it took off like my old SANTE with the 330hp did with just the tanks full. When I bought my 03 I asked the same question, I decided it wasn't worth it, I was wrong! I will not own another Nautique without it. With that in mind, do you put a LOT of extra weight in the boat? If you do then I recommend the upgrade, if not, then it may not be worth the extra $. Fuel consumption is often a concern with the 6.0, running empty it is less efficient, however, if the boat is loaded, it is not having to work nearly as hard and consequently doesn't burn as much. Its all relative. I now have a 226 with a 6.0 and I love it. The closed cooling is also very nice, boat comes to temp much quicker and maintains a much more constant temp. I think it is well worth it. Good luck and let us know what you decide.Comment
