Drilling holes in tower for speakers

I have a 03 SANTE 210 and it doesnt have tower speakers. Is it OK to drill holes in tower for the speaker wire?

Definitely, but be very careful with the sharp edges of the holes. I usually place rubber grommets so the wires do not chafe. If possible, do this with the tower off of the boat. It will be easier to thread the wires through. Also, plan on a quick-disconnect, at the tower base and for the speakers (if you want to remove them during storage). Go on Earmark Audios website. Fro the pics it looks like he does unreal work.

Not to hijack the thread, but Lake Englebright, close to Yuba City is an awsome lake.

Im originally from there and I think that boat used to belong to a family friend. I remember my mom telling me a friend of hers was selling a yellow nautique about the time that one was on CL. If I remember right, it was a pretty good deal too!

Todd- about 25 mins up the road from Englebright is Bullards Bar which is one of the coolest lakes in CA!! It puts Englebright to shame.

            end hijack!

              seth,
good memory..i think it was only on craigslist for a week or two???? Yes it was a great deal worth having it towed from CA to TX. I didnt even go out there to look at it. i had the seller take it to a local boat dealer, had them take pics and run compression test on engine. Only had 44 hours on it last year in June!

Don't believe it is really necessary to remove the tower to install wire, unless yours is not factory drilled at the hull/foot. I did mine tower on boat, it was pretty simple. Mine did already have the hull and right front tower foot holes so it was just a matter of drilling two holes up high where the wire will go to the speakers and then a couple holes near the hinge point to get the wire from the upper bar into the lower bar, from there straight down the leg through the hull exiting behind / under the observer seat where my amps are all mounted.

I used solid electrical wire to pull a string which was used to pull the wire, I have also heard where you can use a shop vac to suck the string from one point to the next.
Use grommets and it's also nice to get some wrap or shrink tube to cover/wrap the speaker wire where it is exposed.

Do some searches as I am pretty sure you should find some threads with photo's of various installs.
