    Super Air draft required to pick up water

    I'm looking into trailer/boat lift issues for a 2000 Super Air Nautique and need to know the following;

    1) What is the lowest point on the boat as it sits in the water; fins, prop, rudder?

    2) I realize the draft is 28", but I want to know the minimum draft I would need to run the motor and have it draw water with the water pump. So basically, I need to know the distance between the lowest point of the boat and the water pickup on the bottom of the hull.

    Thanks

    Lowest point is usually prop. May vary depending on prop installed. Stock Nautique props are about 1" below rudder.
    I dont think you will find any published info on your second question, purly a guess I would say you would draft 18"-16" just to get the raw water pick-up in the water.

      Am I missing something? I don't really understand the second question at all. You need all of 28" or you are not going anywhere anyway. May as well hook up a hose. Even at 28" that is not accounting for and gas, gear, or a driver.

        WakeSlayer,

        Just a guess, but it sounds like he must be messing with the boat on a lift or planning too and he wants to know how much it must be lowered in the water to have the raw water pick up submerged so he can run the engine while the boat is on the lift.

          the boat will need to be floating to be safe if you want to run it on the lift, or just until the bunks meet the hull without raising the boat, this will give you the stability. Now the other question is I believe looking how deep the lift needs to be in the water for the boat to pass over top of the lift and clear to launch or store, so that will vary some depending on if your lake front or channel choppy or smooth water and the style lift used too.

            Yes, what jaybird said is what I'm trying to do. I don't believe I need all 28" of draft to run the motor.
