    New Nautique owner

Hey all, my name is Jason, I've been lurking here for a bit, and as of last Friday am a pround new (new to us) Nautique owner. I just pulled the trigger on BKinSoCal's (Brian's) 05 SANTE 210 last week. He's been super helpful as I continue to email him daily with various questions.

After I drug my new boat from SoCal to NorCal (in the rain, UGHH!!), I cleaned and waxed/neverdulled EVERYTHING. I'm very pleased with my purchase, even though I havn't even been able to get her on the water (besides the water test/demo Brian did for me at purchase) due to work schedule and the weather here.

I'm contemplating removing the "Flight Control Tower" stickers from the tower, and the giant "AIR" stickers on on each side. I'd like to leave the silver inset Nautique sticker there by itself. With the solid lower hull color (Canyon Mist) and the white stripe, I think this would look really clean.

    My main concern at this point, is the possibility (more like probability), of there being some difference between the gel colors between the covered and uncovered areas. I'd like to ask the masses;

    1) Does anyone have a picture of a similar boat with the AIR decal removed and the Nautiqe decal on its own?

    2) What do you think the difference in gel coloration will be, and will I be able to blend it in with enough wax and elbow grease (or I'm open to other suggestion as to how to blend it in)?

LOL, you might be a little biased Brian. Incidentally I pulled and backed the boat around this morning, and that 20A fuse I dropped in the F150 yesterday did indeed solve my backing/surgebrake issue!!!

Yeah, I guess I may be slightly biased, but even if it wasn't my former baby, I would still think it's a great looking boat.

Happy to hear the fuse worked out. I figured that was what it had to be since I dealt with it with my F-150 too.

Have fun on Berryessa this weekend.

You may just have to peal up a corner of the decal to see if any fading has occured. Here in WI, I would say that boat is too new to have any noticable gel fade, but CA could be a different story? Just about anything can be done to gelcoat, in the event it has faded. One PN member wetsanded his entire boat, as I recall.

I think it would look sweet with big 'ol Ski Nautique plastered on the side;-)

Just kidding, they have any graphic you could want at nautiqueparts.com, and you get the 10% PN discount. Those guys are great to deal with. I just received a box from them in the mail today in fact.

That is a classic looking Nautique. Congrats on the new boat. Being your in Ca. I'm sure you will get to use it soon, while the rest of us wait for the snow to melt. Thank God for snow skiing.

Thanks guys. As for pulling a corner to see, Im afraid once I get a piece of it up that I'll be committed to having to pull it off cause I dont want to have an edge "flagging up". The gel seems to be in very good condition, and I'm trying to convince myself that even if there is a slight difference in coloration, that I can just wax it out...

if the boaty was kept indoors the gel should be OK. and as for your worry of being comitted once you peel up a corner, dont worry if yoyu trim it clean it will not pull off. we have a small dock scar on our decal and it has not budged. i do agree though i want to remove the decal aswell and jsut leave the Nautique logo. See ya on the water.

Thanks Isaac, and sorry we couldnt get together 2 weekends ago. Might have saved me a drive to SoCal, but none the less I am super stoked about my new toy. Glad to hear that Berryessa's water level is looking good. Whats the resorts situation like there, has everything been sorted out with the BLM? I'm so hoping that my nearest lake will be open come the start of the season. If you dont mind me asking, where do you put in at, and can you tell me what the launch fees are like (per use and maybe a season pass)? Hopefully you have luck moving yours if thats the direction you and the wife are still heading.

Cam, man your setup is amazing, I can only hope to get my stereo sorted out in that direction much later. After buying the boat, and now getting together accessories (wakeboards/boots, vests, anchor, surfboard [hopefully], ropes and the like) my stereo budget is pretty shot. My impression from Brian is that the boat was indeed stored inside. In the coming days I'm going to just do it (pull the AIR decal), when I do it I'll definitely post some pics.

we just launch at capell cove, the free launch, no charge and its super nice! about 2 miles from the boat storage. if you want i can try to get you a unit at berryessa boat storage....patrick and his wife are the owners and super cool, and your boat is in great hands there. the number there is 707-226-7408 and ask for patrick, he may have something available now......only 100 a month and your boat is up there already, sweet! let me know how it works out.......looks like the wife and i are keepin the beauty, no real serious offers, oh well we are left with the baddest boat on the water, darn!

                      ciao,

                        fade

You should be fine. I pulled the stickers of my 1996 Super Sport a couple months ago and there was some fading (obviously), but it is pretty hard to see unless you look real hard. On a 2005 you shouldn't have to worry about it too much at all.

great lookin boat, i know you're thrilled with it. i just bought an 03 SANTE myself ... anyway, what was the backing up surge brake issue you had with your F-150? am just curious, as thats what i pull mine with too.

obd, when I was backing with my 2000 F150, the surge brakes would apply. In order to over come this I would have to slide that little key/tab thing into the trailer tongue to keep it from collapsing and locking the brakes. I have a round female connection out of the back of my truck, and I'm using an adapter there to plug into a 5 wire flat connection on the trailer.

I did some research online, after my boats seller Brian (who tows with a F150 too), indicated that he had to install a fuse to allow an electrical signal from the center pin of the round (I believe its the reverse lights) to keep the surge brakes from applying while backing. It was a 20A fuse under the hood, I can find the link to it online to show the schematic and exactly what fuse it is if you need it. If youre backing fine already with your truck I imagine your truck came with it installed already.

thanks man ... my 03 f150 came with the flat plug factory installed, so i guess its already doing that because i didnt have a problem backing ... going forward, mine just jerks when im slowing down from the trailer brakes engaging so hard. havent got out there yet to investigate ...
