What are people's experiences with Progressive Insurance?

I have had progressive insurance for all of my boats over the years, however I have never had a claim so I have no idea how they are to work with. Since I have a feeling my decade plus of good luch may come to an end at some point, I was wondering what people have thought of filing a claim with Progressive. Is there any other insurance company which is recommended higher than progressive?

    Couldn't say

I guess the filing of a claim is the actual litmus test. I have State Farm for everything but my boat. They have always been great for cars and that's really the only claim I have had. My Boat is doen through Boat US. I have been pleased with them. Stated Value insurance, and I hear stories of how well they work on claims. They were also about 1/3 the cost of a State Farm policy on the boat.

I've had progressive for 2 years, but can't comment on filing a claim. For some reason it went up 20% this year. The last two years it was the same.

Boat US was also cheaper by 1/3 for me. Never had a issue with them yet. Check your rates!

I checked State Farm, Boat US, Allstate, and Ski safe last year. Allstate and State Farm were about twice as much as progressive. Boat US and Ski safe were about $150-200 more.

Boat US here too. I have a friend that had to file a claim with them years ago and they were great he said. They are usually less on premiums with the same coverage than other insurance companies.

I have a policy through Voyager Marine underwritten by Progressive. Rates are very reasonable for an agreed value policy. No claims so I can't comment on that aspect of it. They've been fine with taking my money so far.

Progressive was hard to deal with in the past. The rep. would come in and question every little thing. They did not want to pay for anything. It was a hard to get anything done right for the customer. I would tell people to look somewhere else for ins. The rep. has changed his tune the last couple of claims we have done.

Your local CC dealer, Century Marine, will not do work on Progressive claims- that should tell you something.

My only experience is me writing them checks....and Progressive cashing them. Three checks so far.

I have Allstate and have nothing but great things to say about them. I currently use them for my boat, RV, and home and have never had any issues.

I have had two claims ($20,000 damage to my old Sport Nautique - flooded while on trailer), and most recently a claim on the RV (we had a leak in the roof and had a bunch of mold and rot - $8000 worth of damage). Both times they have made no issue and paid to have everything taken care of without any questions.

My rates also did not jump up because of these claims.
