Spare tire mounts... let's see um!

I need to get a spare tire mount on my trailer. It's an '03 Ram-lin single axle. I've been looking at them everywhere but they all seem to only be made for 4 or 5 lug wheels. I need one for a 6 lug. I called Ram-Lin and they offer one for around $80, but I can get universal mounts for half that. Then just modify it to fit a 6 lug wheel. Anyway... let's see some pics of your mounts. I want to know where on the trailer they are and if there is any clearance issues I should be concerned about.

The Ramlin mount construction and coating is much better than you'll get for half price + plus time spent making mods. Just pay the price and get one. You can order through your dealer and have it shipped to your house.

I have an extra from Ramlin and sometimes think about selling it. Let me sleep on it.

Here are some far away shots. If I visit the boat tomorrow, I'll get some close ups.

you're overthinking it. unless you and NEED 4, 5, or 6 lugs to keep you your spare from slinging off of your trailer (see the first sentence), all you need is a spare mount that will bolt to two holes on your rim.

My Boatmate came with two bolt mount and is welded to the frame. I added a third stud because of the oversized wheels[18x10].

I'm not trying to have lugs on every hole, I just don't know if a mount for a 4 or 5 lug pattern will be the correct spacing for a 6 lug wheel.

AirTool, if you get anymore pics that would be great. We have the same trailers and I would like to see better where the mount is located. Do you ever have issues with the boat rubbing the spare on steep ramps when loading or unloading? Let me know about you mount also. Thanks for the help guys.

I've seen that on a few other trailers and thought about making a mount. Can you get some better pics for me?

I believe EZloader puts the spare horizontally under the bow in the Y of the trailer. Boatmate only makes 1 mounting plate for the spare.
The top and front holes for 5 lug the top and rear hole for 6 lug. I welded the rear hole closed and re drilled it to fit my wheel.

I may not make it to storage today. I'm running way behind this weekend and weather here stinks. Might swing by tonight after a grocery run.

I have never hit the tire and don't see how I could. I've launched on very flat ramps and very steep ramps. I don't see how the boat could hit it unless you are way off the bunks - which would be bigger problems.

I think it does slightly impede swinging the tongue but I've never tried.

I think he is wondering if the tire hits the ramp, as in bottoming out the tire/trailer. I think that would be more likely then the boat hitting it. The tire it mounted so far forward on the trailer that it should not hit the launch ramp, it is 3-4 feet from the hitch. That would be one scary ramp if you did drag the tire...

He said "boat rubbing the spare".

I have an EZ Loader trailer and mine is mouted like Nautiquehunter mentioned. I will try to get some pics of it soon. Just moved over the weekend and don't have my main computer unpacked yet. See if this link will work though. I like that it is out of the way and it is easy to remove, just one lug nut holding it there. Go to the third post down in the link and there is a decent pic of the trailer and wheel.
