Surf question SAN210TE

Just picked up a 03 Super Air 210 Team Edition and was wondering if it is possible to surf with just the factory ballast. If not, how much are you guys adding? and where?

Also, is there a place to get an owners manual somehwere on line? I love the boat!

I have the same boat and almost exclusively surf. Using the standard ballast, you can get a decent surf wake as long as you have 4-5 passengers for added weight. However, there were times last year that my son and I were by ourselves and the wake is tough to ride. Late last season I replaced the rear tanks with the 750 lbs Fat Sacs on each side and it DRAMATICALLY improved the surf wake size and quality. I don't have any pics to post but it was like night and day. Now my son and I can go out alone and have a very rideable wake to work with.

Obviously my recommendation is to replace the hard tanks with the sacs. Our last ride in 2009 included (7) passengers, a rider, and full sacs and the wake was insane. This has been a long, cold winter in NC and I am so looking forward to Spring/Summer. Can't wait to get back out on the water.

Don't think that you necessarily have to rip out your hard tanks in order to get a decent surf wake. I still have my stock tanks and put bags on top that I use to balance out wakes and/or surf. Works great!

Monster! has a good wakesurf rack that you can mount to your FCT. There are other options, as well.

Try a 400 bag on the side seat on the rider's side. A couple hundred right behind the drivers seat or under the gullwing helps also. The forward oriented weight makes the wake longer as opposed to taller. I also have about a hundred far in bow, and 130 or so in the walkthru. I have tried and tried to use a sac in the bow and no matter what we do, there just seems to be no benefit. That is just my setup, I know a lot of guys do it, just never helps us.

I have the same boat and just use factory ballast along with fatsacs wedge sacs that are 400lbs each and I put one behind drivers seat and one ontop of ballast tank. Even with that it can be hard to surf with one person in the boat.
