"Correct Craft" out of business?

Thanks! It is certainly a different company than it was a few years ago. That's for sure.

For the record, I am all in favor of them using Correct Craft more. There is a historical reference that can be drawn from the name, and that can only be a good thing.

I spent the last little while thinking more about this whole Nautique vs. Correct Craft thing, and I came to a realization. Not sure if it is relevant or not, but we don't see other companies, like Supra for example, plastering Skier's Choice all over their boats.

Does Supra by Skier's Choice equate to Nautiques by Correct Craft? (The naming conventions, not the boats.)

While I admit I don't pay a lot of attention to other mfg's, I don't recall Supra ever having used that term. Correct Craft used the term Nautiques by Correct Craft, Since 1925 for decades.

They should drop the Correct Craft. They make one model of boat, Nautique, of which there are sub-models. Just like Ford has the F-series truck of which you can buy a 150, 250 etc. But Ford unlike Correct Craft makes many completely different model lines. If Correct Craft made fishing boats, pontoons, and john boats, it would make more sense to keep using the Correct Craft name. Need to drop it as have most of the people who own one.

Everything Correct Craft makes now is also a Nautique, so you should drop Nautique as well.

Unless some of you know for a fact Correct Craft will never make a non-Nautique boat again, completely dropping Correct Craft would be short sighted. gspotrider must not be counting any boats prior to 2008. I don't know how many CCs are left on the planet, but I'd venture a guess that 2008+ represent very small piece of the pie. And as SNMike pointed out, the factory would have to make all new signs, 3/3 I saw last week said Correct Craft!

My 1980 Camaro Z28 doesn't say Chevrolet on it anywhere either...

Not to worry mi amigo!! It's not gonna happen. Can I guarantee it?! No sir, but I'd bet money on it.

Dropping CC completely out of sight would be equalivant to Chevy dropping the bow tie from the front of their car's. Ain't gonna happen.

nautiquehunter, i think you are a little blinded by the nautique light. the boats are not the boats they used to be. you are absolutely correct, you cannot compare the older boat ( 05 and before) to the new ones. the new ones dont compare in the least. ill give you that one.

when you take your buddys to a boat show and they say the new nautiques look "cheap".....yeah, things have changed quite a bit.

theres plenty of difference in the malibus and nautiques. i woudl never own a bu. im sayig from a pure asthetics point of view, there aint much difference in two anymore. except the inside. brand new, bu's look more plush and more finished on the inside now. no exposed fiberglass, crazy moldings, etc.

long live MY 2001 super sport. best boat ever rolled out the factory.

I think you caught me I am blinded by the Nautique light. Or should I say I am tired of stumbling around in the dark. This isn't my first rodeo. I have owned a George Fowler Supra for 23 years I thought it was the best boat on the water. I spent 2 years checking out new inboards
I have no doubt about the build quality of my 08. What specifically did your buddy's find cheap about the Nautiques? What did you find so superior with a Bu. I know there are a lot of traditionalists that love there boat so much they never want them to change. The way I see it is CC wanted to get a bigger share of the market . In order to do that they had to update the line. The boats being built today are nothing like the models 10 years ago no matter who built it. You cant stand still and grow at the same time. If they still built the same boats as 10 years ago I doubt I would have bought one.

i have no doubt in the build quality of your 08 either.

i guess my point was, the boats are not as nice (to me) as they used to be. no other boat used to compare. there was a uniqueness to them. exclusitivity. they were CLEARY a better boat that the competition, and they looked it. now, not so much. look about the same as everythign else.

as far as the bu, i dont think it superior at all. if so, id own one. but when i sit in a 247 lsv, nobody can tell ME it doesnt LOOK more plush and finished on the inside than a 230. all the crazy nooks and cranies and molding designs, grab rails, hinges, removable seat deals, etc. the nautiques are not as clean and classy as they used to be on the inside. My opinion is all.

between our small crew at the lake we have about 10-11 nautiques, all super airs. im not going to lie, the older ones (97-04ish, 05 maybe) seem to be holding up better than say the 06, 07, and 08s we ride. not bashing, just my observations. maybe its just me cause its mine, but i can swear my 01 is more solid than the 06s and above we ride. once again, my opinion based on my experiences.

I agree with Wakeslayer. 99 is the sweetspot. You get the better bow seat configuration and fewer electronics to go bad. The eraser style breaker switches may not look all that great, but they are relatively cheap and easy to fix, and the analog gauges and key start are nearly bulletproof. My 99 may not have all the storage I would like, but it's a tank... a very nimble one.

Why do you assume any new technology is not going to work as well as dated technology? I haven't had it long, but my LINC system (which, by the way, is not a touch screen) is great!

I don't understand why you wouldn't want the company to continue to innovate. If they did not, they wouldn't be in business much longer. Can you imagine them trying to compete in today's market with a "brand new" 1999 Super Air Nautique?

I do think that it is possible for them to make a really nice boarding boat and MSRPl it for less than $90k. They would probably sell more of them if they did. The boat companies have made these boats so most people cannot even fantasize about buying one. I guess I could buy one if I wanted to, but I don't want all that stuff on a boat. I like tame colors and graphics, basic tower, a key, breakers, etc. I installed my own ballast system and stereo system to my needs. Call me old fashioned if you want.

There was a discussion on CCFan about a year ago that they could manufacture and sell scaled down blingless versions of thier boats and make them affordable to a lot wider consumer base. When the talk got around to what to call them, it was suggested they call them "Correct Crafts"

While I like nice stuff, I find that the more new technology there is, the more there is to fail. I have a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with all the bells and whistles. I cannot tell you how many times the fancy nav/bluetooth/audio system has freaked out on me. It is ridiculous. Last fall, the headlight leveling sensor crapped out and I was unable to drive the vehicle after dark for 6 weeks. At some point, it is enough. I far preferred my 1999 and my 2002 Jeep GCL's. I would give a lot to have one of those vehicles available to me today new.
