    600 to 700 hours on a 2003 to 2006 196 - too much?

    looking at some 196's - 600 to 700 hours - 2003 to 2006

Just wondering when any major engine work is required on these engines (assuming proper mainteneance has been done all along)

    Any insight appreciated

Assuming the boats are taken care of, 500-600 is nothing. You can easily go 2400-2500 hours on a well taken care of inboard PCM engine. We generally put 100-125 hrs a year on our 196s.

PCM, the engine manufacturer says 2500 hours to a rebuild if maintenance schedule is followed. Well taken care of, it is not uncommon to get more than that. BKH

i'd say 100 hour yearly average(some people get alot less) is the norm. too few hours means it's either just sitting or always in the shop. too many just means it got used.
