Concerns about buying a boat sitting on dealers lot without cover

I found an excellent deal on a 2007 210 SAN. I have some concerns about buying the boat because it has been sitting on a dealers lot in the sun and rain the last two months here in northern California without a cover on it. The boat looks in good condition for the price. No mold, but gauges have condensation in them and all the stereo and dash gauges have been out in the elements. I wanted hear what others thought about purchasing a boat that has been sitting outside like this. What concerns should I have about buying this boat?

Thanks in advance for your comments!

Keeping a boat covered on a regular basis is the easiest way to protect the interior and keep the boat in much better condition overall, so I am surprised that a dealer would keep a boat subjected to the elements--especially one they're trying to sell. Regardless, the condition you see it in now is the condition it is if/when you buy. If the vynal is still in good condition (which it very well may be), then go for it. I'm sure the dealer will also detail the crap out of the boat when you buy also, which will make it appear as good as it can be, where as now you're seeing the boat in its worst. good luck

change that to MAKE sure the they detail it. I'd hope they would but I don't think it's a given.

But I agree with AD, you can see the condition and what you do from this point on is what's important. And I get condensation in my gauges whenever it sits outside. It goes away.

Thanks for the replies. I put a deposit down on it today. $34,500 seem like a good deal for a 2007 SAN 210. Not a team edition, but figured with the savings I could make it one.

shoot, secc didn't cover ANY of their boats. depending on your location it can be detrimental to leave a cover on if it rains alot and then heats up. you got an 07 for 34500? congrats on that steal

That sounds like a great deal. Some dealers often neglect inventory. When I worked at our local dealership there were times when the boats didn't get covered because there were so many and so little time. He had over a 100 Pontoons though.

              Covered boats can Mold

He may have not covered it because when it gets wet then sunny you can get condensation and mold under the cover. He may not have had it covered during the first rain then couldn't cover it. Since there is no wood in the boat I think a good detailing would take care of any problems. I would get some 303 protectant (sp?) on the vinyl as soon as I got it home.
