I would consult your local marine canvas shop before you get all fired up about a black cover. They will most likely tell you that as long as the cover is properly vented then you should not have a problem. The difference in temperature underneath any of the darker colored covers(red, blue, etc) is negligible when compared to black.

skitundra - I talked to Brent yesterday and he said he'd do a colored cover, but it would cost more and that I'd have to pick out the color so he could quote it for me. I guess his standard is black, but my impression was that other colors are available but with an upcharge.

Black Covers - Messed up Seats
Re-opening this thread again on black covers. I ordered a cover from Brent at Coversports for my 2006 SV211 at the beginning of the season. Received it mid-May and have been using it since. I love the fit and look of the cover. However, when I was cleaning my boat I noticed that the bow seats were starting to pull away from the deck. So, I checked the flip up passenger seat and noticed that it is starting to bow out where the gas shocks connect to the seat back. For the first three years I had a gray canvas cover and never had a problem. Seems that the heat build up under the black cover was too much for the material used in the seat back. I live in Michigan, so I would not have expected this to happen. I bought the boat used, so don't have a warranty. Just wanted to put the warning out there again, and any suggestions on fixing the seats would be appreciated.

Mjmaatman, sorry about your interior. That is exactly how mine started- small bending and movement then it got much worse like where the gas shock was pushing on it. I believe that the material that they are using for the back-board it too temperature sensative. It doesn't matter if you are in Michigan or Arizona, if the sun is beating down on that black cover the temperature gets too high and those board warp. Light colored covers seem to work, but a better board material is the best long term fix going forward. Is this the exact same material that other manufacture's use? Or is anyone aware of other boats having this issue?

Black Covers/Warping
Gents. I experienced this problem with both my 2003 206 and my 2005 196. I replaced one set of side panels on the 206 and two on the 196. On the second set of panels for the 196, CC sent a special extra durable/thick backing. I haven't had any problems since but I never leave my boat out in the hot weather with the cover on. It stays in a hut that provides ample shade.
By the way, my cover that I've used on the 206 and 196 were blue and grey respectively.
Hopefully CC will take notice. I gotta say, I spent alot of time on the phone with CC on this issue and they took care of me. Purely cosmetic but it bugged me to no end.

Boat Vents
You can purchase the boat vents directly for $12 - 13 + shipping. I have purchased / installed these on my last 2 covers. Very easy to install and have not had any problems. If yout boat sits in the sun, I see one on the overtons WEB site that has a solar powered fan
