In an effort to push our industry forward and showcase the world’s highest level of athletes, we are announcing a new format for the Pro Men’s Trick Division for the 2010 Masters.
The Masters Tournament is known as one of the most prestigious events in the world, consistently revealing the industry’s latest in innovations and concepts. With the new format, skiers will take two 20-second passes where they will showcase their toughest and most exciting tricks and sequences; one which will be used toward the final score. The skier will keep the best score of the two on the score sheet and drop the lowest one.
The skier’s first semi-final round running order will be seeded according to the IWWF elite skier’s ranking list followed by any skier that received an exception, LCQ or wild card.
Starting position will begin from the center starting dock located at the pavilion and will leave the dock heading right or in the direction heading south. The boat will circle and the skier will make their first 20-second pass. After completion of the first pass the skier will return to the center starting dock.
After each skier has completed their first pass, the Pro Women’s Trick Division will take place; at which point the results from the Men’s first pass will be posted in seeded order.
Directly following the Pro Women’s Trick Division will begin the Pro Men’s second 20-second pass with the running order based according to the placement from the first round pass with the top seeded skier skiing last. The skier will again begin from the center starting dock at the pavilion but will leave the dock heading left or in the direction heading north. The boat will circle and the skier will make their second 20-second pass.
The top four skiers from the semi-final rounds will advance to the final rounds on Sunday seeded by place with the top skier skiing last in the same format as the semi-final rounds listed above and will be judged based on IWWF rules.
“As the Masters enters a new era we are thrilled to be able to continue to evolve this wonderful event to include these changes; the Nautique Team and the Masters Committee are committed to delivering the most exciting on water thrills for the 51st celebration of this incredible tournament” commented Larry Meddock, Masters Tournament Chairman. “Adding to the excitement this year will be the all new and revolutionary Ski Nautique 200 pulling its very first Masters and will exclusively tow the Tricks Division” Meddock added.
“The proposed rule change will be for experimental use at the 51st Masters Tournament, and will remain at an “R” Record Tournament rating where Elite points will be awarded. I do this under IWWF Rule 1.05, which states: Under the authority of the Tournament Council Chairman, proposed rules may be tested. The Chairman shall determine the appropriate homologation level under the test conditions. A complete report of the results of the test will be made by the Homologate and Chief Judge and sent to the Chairman for distribution to the Tournament Council,” states Bob Corson, Chairman IWWF Tournament Council.
