From reading several other posts about the adjustable trim tab on the rudder, I thought that this was typically adjusted to the right to provide some torque to the steering for driving through the course. I just got my boat boat out of storage and noticed that my tab is all the way to the left (it's been that way since it bought it new in 2004). I moved it to the right and the steering was so stiff I had trouble turning to the right and there really wasn't any torque/pull to the steering, not that there was any torque before, but at least it was easy to steer. I changed the tab back to the left and the steering was normal.
Does this make sense? Which way is the tab typically set on a 196 or 206?
Boat is 2004 206 with 5.7 PCM engine
