    Faria gateway controler

I have a 2004 206 and my gauges stoped working today.I looked at the controler for the gauges in the back of the boat and it had water coming out of it. Im guessing that it is coming from the pitot tube for the speedo.I in pluged some of the wires and there was water on the end of the conection. As a electrician I know that water and anthing electrical dont mix.Has anyone have the same problem

Had the same problem with mine, when the board fried most gauges did not work and an audible alarm was going off continuously. Had to replace the circuit board.

IIRC, the dealer said that with some of those boxes there was a problem with the pitot's draining properly despite the fact they were supposed to be self draining, during layup the water froze and expanded into the circuit board.

Now when winterizing I disconnect the pitot lines at the gateway box and then blow some air into the pitot's to ensure there is no water in the lines.

Not sure as to the root cause of mine but my 2003 gateway failed at the end of last year when I picked up the boat. My dealer said replacing them has not been common, but had done one to date. It surely wasnt cheap, nearly 700 if I remember right.

In some automotive style guages, there is an isolator for fuel pressure so you can have a fuel pressure reading in the car without actually having fuel come in. I wish someone would come up with an isolator for those pitot tubes so no actual water could make it to the gateway. Just a thought.
