Ballast Thru Hull Type

Hey all,

I've read conflicting opinions on whether ballast puppies should be used with flat or scooped thru hulls. I need to replace pumps in my 2002 SANTE, and would like to go with the ballast puppies. It would make my life much easier to utilize the 2 existing scooped thru hulls installed by correct craft.

Does anyone see issues with this?

Okay, I only know what I have read, so take this with a grain of sale, but scoops will not allow you to drain while underway. Also, unless you close the ball valve, they will keep pushing against the impellers, which I suppose could conceivably not be a good thing. The first one was enough for me to decide to swap out the scoops with mushrooms.

I used the existing scoop for one of my intakes on my 01 SAN. Mine will empty while underway but I never do it. I put shut off valves on my front two bags which are hooked to that intake. When they are full I just off the valves and no more filling. I may eventually switch to a mushroom, but its not that important to me right now.
