Wake Behind 230 at Wake Games in Orlando Not Looking Too Great

First of all, I want to say I am a huge advocate for Nautique and own a 2008 SAN 210TE myself and love everything about the boat including the wake. In saying that, I had a buddy that rode in Wake Games this past weekend and I watched some video of it as well and the wake to me did not look good at all. It seemed like it was washing over a ton and my buddy said a lot of riders were complaining about it including himself (his opinion is unbiased as he does not own any of the major brand of boats). I have ridden behind that same boat before at OWC sacked out and I personally thought that the lip was a little washy at the time, but nothing like what I was seeing this weekend. On some of the cuts it looked like they were edging through complete whitewash.

Just wondering if anyone else noticed this??? You would think they would have the wake dialed for a big comp like this with such high exposure...

only one i've been behind was the first year they made the 230 so i don't know if any changes have been made, but fully weighted with about 3500lbs on top of factory the lip on both sides was washed out regardless of weight distribution. saying that, it wasn't like the typical wash that really frustrates me because it seemed like i rode right over it and not through it. it was more of a mental thing for me. that said, the thing drove like a direct drive with all that weight.

I was thinking the same thing. Watching Harleys winning run, the wake was definately washing over. I think he did a toe 9 when the wake was completely washed out which is crazy!

as far as i know, the 236/230 hulls havent changed. my 236 does throw a ripple all of the way down the wake, even when weighted evenly. that ripple, however, is at the top of the wake, and doesnt wash down into the face of the wake. if you are not accustomed to it, it will play w/ your mind. it does not at all affect pop or release from the lip of the wake...

I was at Wake Games for a day this last weekend and I think it had a bunch to do with the lake. The setup at OWC for a tournament is very difficult for smooth wakes. Since the starting dock is in the middle of the course and they head east for the start up. This made the very first wake hit coming back is right in the middle of diaganol startup rollers. The third hit in the middle of the course which has a depth change, this caused the wake to wash on both sides going both ways in the same spot. All the major hammers were thrown on the west end of the lake and right before the 2/3 bouy coming back. OWC is a very hard course.

          Just my opinion.

I love the 230. I'm on my 3rd one. But the wake with the boat loaded is finiky. With no wind and smooth water you can run 3k in the boat without it washing at 75 ft. You have to be going about 24 though. Rough water and or wind makes a loaded 230 wake wash in my experience.

Ya, the lake is definitely small as it felt like I was turning around every 5 seconds when I rode there. I can only imagine what it's like with the starting dock in the middle of the lake plus the fun box and rooftop rail floating in there. Either way, was just making an observation moreso for the fact that I couldn't believe how some of the guys still THREW DOWN with the wake washing like that. Like it was said above, Harley threw back to back toe 9's and one looked like there wasn't even a wake there because it was washing so bad...crazy stuff! Just shows how good those guys (kids) are.
