So yesterday, while I was out on the glassy smooth river, I experienced the ZO "porpoising" issue yet again. I can kill this issue out by manipulating the wake-gate, but it is annoying, and I'm sure it causes the rider some annoyance too since when I do it the wake changes a bit. On my rather long list of things I want to do to the boat, one is to update the Zero Off. I have two choices; 1) pull the dash apart, take out the head unit, send it back to ZO, have them flash it, and then reinstall it, or 2) buy the **** expensive cable and take 10 minutes and be done with it. Since 1) I don't want to have several days of downtime while waiting on shipping to and from ZO, and 2) I am generally lazy at heart, I think I am gonna buy the cable. This morning I had an idea and wanted to see if there was any interest in this...
The cable (if purchased from ZO, not sure how much White Lake or somebody else could get it for) is $220 plus shipping. If I was to buy the cable, would anybody else be interested in a "rental" type program? I know there are others out there in my exact same situation. If I was to buy it, and the next person were to send me via PayPal say $190, then when I got the funds, I shipped the cable to them. When they were done with the cable, they would send it back to me, and I would return $150 back to them when I received the cable. That's basically $30 plus shipping. If somebody decided to screw me and keep the cable, I've got my 1 use out of it and would consider the loss as acceptable. I believe that most folks on here, as responsible adult Nautique owners would be honest enough to do this, not trash the cable, and keep something beneficial for other owners going. Is the price too much? I want to make sure it is worth my time, and also make sure that I don't get screwed if something does happen to the cable.
I know if somebody else had made me this offer, I would have already jumped on it. Nobody has, and my local dealer (Alabama Watersports - yes, they just folded; they were a horrible dealer) would not pony up to buy a cable. So would anybody be interested in an offer like this? Does anybody, perhaps a dealer, want to make an offer like this?
What's your thoughts?
