yes they have sent out a recall they are going to start sending dealers replacement rudder ports at the beginning of next week. your local dealer should be contacting you if your boat is affected.

Thanks. I've already talked to him and my boat is affected. I'm anxious to get out and I'm concerned about how long it will take to fix. Any idea how likely is it that my rudder will fail if I use the boat before the fix? The boat has been in the water and I don't see any cracks, but I don't want to take any chances.

I spoke with several key people at the factory yesterday who said that Correct Craft is aware of the problem and is working hard to remedy the situation as quickly as possible. They have been using the same vendor for their rudder ports for over twenty years with no problems. CC knows exactly what the problem is and what boats are impacted by the issue and are now just waiting on the replacement rudder ports, which the vendor is working on producing right now. Customer boats are top priority for receiving the replacement rudder ports, above showroom boats, etc. While no boats have been damaged, and no one has been hurt, Correct Craft is recommending that none of the affected boats be used until the problem has been fixed.

My boat is also part of the recall, and I am confident that they will get this issue resolved quickly.

I would say don't chance it. They wouldn't recall it if it was safe. Just like aircraft parts, cracks may not be visible to the naked eye. If you are aware of this problem and wreck the boat will your insurance cover the loss? How short will your season be if you run aground and have to send the boat to be reglassed? Not worth the risk no matter how excited you are about the boat. Are you or someone you know mechanically inclined enough to swao the rudder? CC may send you the part directly and allow you to have a local mechanic do the work to save yourself the trip.

Good catch! and Absolutely NOT and no chance to win a court case IMO. I've heard of some Ford fire cases that insurance didn't want to pay and the owner DIDN'T know of the recall. I'm not sure how the court cases turned out...might still be fighting about it.

I agree that its probably not worth the risk. Hopefully the part gets here quickly as I'm first in line at my dealer. Apparently all the Nautiques they've sold have to be fixed. In any event, I'm very excited about the boat. I sold my stern drive for this one and I've been like a kid at Christmas for the last 2 months of winter.

Unless your dealer is brand new, I doubt seriously that all of the Nautiques that they've sold need to be fixed. There is a fairly small band of hull ID's from only 2010 that require the repair.

He is the brand new dealer for Nautiques here in Alberta. The dealership has been around a long time but this is their first year carrying the Nautique line. What he told me was every boat he got needs the repair. My boat was the first one that left his lot.

hi guys, I m "small" intenational dealer....all five boats that we have already received this year need the
"recall service" The customers are angry because this has not been the only problem but only the big...
With this problem they cant use the boats for some (????) days...and it is "hard" to understand when you pay 70k - 80k usd for a boat....

I would keep in mind that this is a problem with parts CC received from one of their vendors, not something that Correct Craft did wrong from a boat building perspective. It is bad timing, that's for sure. As a customer, I would much rather see Correct Craft issue this recall in the manner that they have instead of allowing people to continue using boats with a part known to be potentially dangerous. To me, it seems that Correct Craft has done the best possible thing that they could in this tough situation. They have made it clear that they are working very hard to get the replacement parts out to their customers as quickly as possible, and that the manufacturer of the rudder ports is working very hard to produce the parts as quickly as possible too. I would hope that your customers are smart enough to realize that CC is doing the best that they can here, given the current set of circumstances. Even though your season is short, cutting a few days out in order to be safe is the right thing to do.

I agree Jeff. I'm not angry, just a little impatient and disappointed. My dealer been treating me very well and I'm sure Correct Craft is doing the right thing. As long as they can get the part up here asap and I can get it fixed within a week or so than everything will be OK. We've got a long weekend coming up and a lot of friends and family will be visiting so obviously I want my boat to be ready to go.

Yeah, I hear that. I am (luckily?) heading to Seattle for a week next week, so I wouldn't be home to enjoy my boat anyway. I really hope I can get it fixed up as soon as I get home though.

Hi Jeff, sadly there are many types of customers... some intelligent some less intelligent...
but if I must be sincere, 2 of these customers (less intelligent or only very unlucky) in 1 month
after delivery, have been able to use the boat for only 2 or 3 hours because of a long series
of problems......(fuel pump, transmission, engine sensor....) Now that all the problems had been
fixed .... the recall service has , again, stopped the boat. One of this customer said me that
I will be contacted by his lawyer.... not happy to know....not good brand "image".....
