    vacation and wakeboarding

Planning a trip south in the new year from Canada. Anywhere hot inclding Mexico, Florida, Jamaca, etc.

Has anyone been to a nice resort that happens to also have wakeboarding and skiing avaiable? We are not looking for a dedicated wakeboard facility.

I heard Club Med in Cancun Mexico has a boat. They have a private lake and you can ski and wakeboard.

Club Med Cancun has the best deal going for a social vacation with opportunities for good wakeboarding. They have 2 new Supra or Moomba inboards. The lagoon is pretty nice but the runs are short. When I was there I did the Club Med thing plus hired rides from Scott Smith at www.waterskicancun.com, he will pick you up at the Club Med dock. Bring your own board, rope and vest! They have some worked over CWB gear. Scott uses an old barefoot Mastercraft with an extended pylon with 2 water tanks in back. The wake is not huge but it's fun enough. Oh yeah, the water was butter smooth!

There are 3 slalom courses in the vicinity, 1 at Club Med. They open an hour early and pull slalom skiers in the course, you need to make 6 bouys to "qualify" for the early session. The ski team loves Jagermeister.

I went to Disney for my honeymoon, and they have the sammey duval ski school there with MC boats. We had the Disney Resort Magic Delux Plan that included recreation (including water skiing) at no extra* cost per session. *Note that you don't have to pay the rates at the ski center, but you are paying for it through the add'l cost of the delux plan.

We ahd a great time as we stayed at the polyenesian concierge, had the delux plan the went on the cruise. Also I had most every major thing planned out so we got to do most everything we wanted with no major crowds or rushing. If anybody goes, i highly recommened reserving the Breathless Firework Cruise. I had it book about three months in adavnce. It is a reproduction Chris Craft mahogany runabout that is moored at the yaucht club hotel. There is nothing like watching fireworks from the back of a chris craft at disney with only you and your wife (and the driver in the front cockpit).
