Just got off the phone with Mr. PCM Roy Layton him self. He is going to let me know when the last time the motor was on the CC price/option list. He seem to think that 07 and it may have been a MEFI controled. He is going to find out if they did a E-control cal for the 5.0, if so then it is a no brainer to convert an older motor to accomadate ZO.

That's great that older boats can now be upgraded to ZO. Last year, I was told my '06 Excal couldn't run it, and that was by ZO.
JC,
Post some pics when you buy it:-)'08 196LE (previous)

If you are even a occasional footer like me, I wouldn't do it. Footing will clearly expose the limitations of the 5.0, you can get away with for most other aspects of our sports but not with footing. That solid 42mph top speed you can achieve with an Excal will probably diminish down to 38-39 with a moderate crew and good sized footer in tow. My biggest regret with my SV211 is not having the biggest motor. Of course behind a DD you will get more out of the Excal than I would with a ZR6 in my V-drive.

Bump. I am buying an 02 196 with the 5.0. It's got the original PP but a ZO conversion would be awesome as opposed to stargazer. What am I looking at cost wise to do this on a 5.0?
