Weird Zero Off Problem

Went out for the second time this year and it took Zero Off over 45 minutes to locate/find a GPS fix. No idea why it took so long. Anyone ever have this happen? It has been over a month since we've been out.

? Maybe need a new GPS sensor?

Yesterday, It took about 15 minutes for mine to acquire. Usually mine acquires within 60 seconds of pulling out of the boat house. Weird.

I didn't read the article, but saw something in the newspaper about the national GPS system recently having some problems- it had the potential to screw up navigation for missle systems- (and Zero Off) ?

I hope you all realize that a GPS based system depends on being able to receive a very weak radio signal from satellites many thousands of miles from where you are.
The miracle is that it works at all.

Although not ZO, my Stargazer system receives a signal almost instantly about 95% of the time. If it doesn't, I need to restart the engine to perhaps reboot the system, otherwise it won't sinc up with a satellite all. I'm not if that trick would work with ZO?

I had it happen to me for the first time ever last week. Would not aquire, therefore no cruise, for about 30-40 minutes. Shut the boat down, restarted several times, no luck and then finally it acquired a signal. Weird. Never happened once last year.

We were out Saturday morning in my friend's boat. He has Stargazer. While we were having some master module issues, we acquired a GPS signal in a matter of about 5 seconds. Whatever your problem is, I don't think it's the satellite. From what I can tell, the Garmin antennas the two systems use are pretty close.

I was out yesterday evening in another friend's boat that used ZO. He had no problem getting a GPS signal either.

We went out the next day and it syn'd in less than a minute.

The day it happend restarts etc didn't help.

I found two other boat owners nearby that also had issues last weekend with gps sync on their ZO.
