    Zero off or Stargazer?

I have a SANTE 220 and am considering upgrading the perfect pass. So do I go stargazer or zero off? Which is easier to install?

The PP Digital Pro to Stargazer ugrade took me literally five minutes, which included unscrewing the dash pod to run run the GPS antenna. Super easy, you just need to make sure you have a compatible display (multi-line).

I see they have a new speedo that's a puck-less GPS. I hope they incorporate that into SG.

For a 2007, I believe making zero off work requires upgrading the ecm to econtrols. I have SG and love it. If you're not competing in tournaments and needing the identical pull in training as you will see in competition, I think SG is an excellent system and, as mentioned, a super easy install.

For most 07s, it's as simple as a reflash of the existing ecm. Very early 07s required a changeout of the ecm, though.

I can 2nd the easy install. I touched base with Eastie before hand for some tips and it was quite easy. Some say you loosen the 4 screws holding the pod down but I just took out the old gauge first and pressed up on the pod to run the GPS wire into the pod. Now if the threads holding the gauge into the pod werent stripped the gauge would have been out in two minutes instead of 20. The wind was howling that day so I havent calibrated yet but the GPS picked up under the dock roof.

Fwatt, how do you like the wake on your 220? I have heard mixed feelings. washes out, rolls easy, ect. Just looking at upgrading and curious. Thanks!

I have heard SG is very accurate.

Stargazer or Zero Off on a River

I have Zero Off on my '08 230. I spend all of my time on a River. The flow of the river varies from time to time during the day based on water needs by the farmers. Typically when I go UP river, I need to adjust my speed down on ZO by roughly 1.5-2 mph in order to get the speed I want. When I go DOWN river, I have to adjust my speed up by 2.5-5 mph over my desired speed (which is as much as a 7 mph change from going UP river to DOWN river) in order to run at the appropriate speed.

I have the updated firmware. Puck is still the original. I don't want to waste the money on the new puck if I'm going to have the same problem. I have it set to River Mode.

I've contacted ZO (3) times and have not hear back from them yet which leads me to believe they have no solution.

Has anyone else who uses their boat on a River experienced the same issues?

For those who use Stargazer on a River, what is your opinion? I am contemplating making the switch but I want to do my homework before I make the investment. I know it's still GPS based so I don't know if the issues are the same.

This boat is a new '08 that I bought in March. Like everyone else who has complained about the ZO issues, I am very frustrated.

I'm just looking for a little input.

                  Thanks.

There is a "special" update for Stargazer specific to river currents. I didn't get much of a description of it, but basically, it will turn things over to the paddle wheel to account for river current. Aaron at PP told me it was specific for people who operated in river currents regularly. In my situation, limited river current use, he suggested riding in practice mode and adjusting rpm to dial in speed. Give them a call or email them Monday. Their customer service is excellent.

Honestly, to me it sounds like it is just shifting back to WB Pro, but I hope it works for you. You'd think they'd be able to let you hit a button, use time and distance, and determine the rate of the current, then apply it until you recaptured it.

It certainly would be nice if that were the case. The PP on my '05 210 worked perfectly. The paddle wheel was the key vs the GPS which does not take the current into account.
