Late 90's Super Sport Open Bow questions

Looking at Nautiques, coming from Mastercrafts.

Whats the deal with the mid to late 90's Super Sport, open bow section? I haven't seen one in person, but in pictures, just looks like a flat piece of ply wood with vinyl? Is it comfortable? Usable? Obviously they changed around 99 or so, to a more traditional open bow layout, with proper seat benches and pads.

    Any advise would be great!

    Thanks

It would not be plywood, as they did not use wood in the late 90s. But yes, it is what is referred to as a "play-pen" style open bow, which was not unique to Correct Craft. Most of the early open bow configurations were like this, including the non-step-thru kind. There is a small acess hatch underneath the cushion, but you get less easily useable storage with the play-pen. I prefer the newer style that is in my 99, but one benefit of the old style is that you can get a bigger triangle shaped fat sac (which is also cheaper than the integrated A style) underneath and thereby run with more ballast in the bow with the play-pen style. As far as comfort goes, I usually run with my middle cushion in anyway, which essentially creates the same thing as a play-pen. That said, the bow area is for women and kids anyway, so the only time I am up there is when cleaning the area or getting something out of the storage areas.

CC had a walk through in the 89-92 Sport. Then they went with the play pen on all models. Returned to walk through in 99.

I like the walk through, mostly because I rarely use the open bow. My tonneau cover stays on 95% of the time, and I use the walk through for storage over my jump seat.

However, in terms of people using the front seating area, I'd venture to say that 99.9% of people sitting up front kick their feet up on the seats anyway. Thus, to me, it really doesn't make much difference in terms of seating. If anything, the play pen is more condusive to what folks will do anyway.

I have the playpen and its comfortable. You kick back with your legs up all the time anyway. Either way you will be fine.

I had a 1995 SS with the playpen and it was fine but if it got wet up there it wouldnt dry out unless you completetely removed the pad so I left the pad out a lot. With the walkthrough you would have more storage on each side under the removable seats because there was no access to the front in the 95 except for a little useless trap door. Weak design in my opinion.

I am dealing also with the same problem. I don't think where to find the proper answers. I read all the post in this thread, some are nice but I haven't solve my problem. But thanks for the replies.
