Installing a Pop Up Transome light

All your work my have been in haste. I believe and don't quote me, that the anchor light needs to be the higher than the highest point of the boat. Don't take my word for it but, this is something I heard recently. Don't know how that affects older boats or if we all need to compy.

Twin Tip: The light raises up to a set point everytime its turned on you cant adjust it. It goes up just over 4 feet everytime. I use the ancor light on the dash to rais and lower it, Not the Nav lights. Chris I had heard the same thing also about the transome light having to be higher than the highest point, So that proabley why the new Nautiques have them mounted on there tower. I dont know what they are going to do or how or if they are going to enforce it.

If your going to worry about every little rule like that you should leave your boat at home. LOL I bet everytime Im out I must break about 50 water police rules.

Whitechocolate: Why did you not opt for a tower light? I think that's what I'm going to do simply because it's got to be more visible (unless there is a heavy fog ;~) ), and it's out of the way.
Have you seen a good tower light setup? Seems that with LED's gaining popularity there got to be one on the market somewhere.

I think Mastercraft has the best tower light Hands down. The one Nautique used on there new boats is a JOKE, If I had a 05 with that I would take it down or replace it with whatever.

To me this Pop up Light was just as cool as the Mastercraft tower light. Because I like how this light goes away when its turned off. As far a riding after dark with the transome light up thats a big No No so that seems to be the only down side to this. It does seem to be some what delicate, I could see some one grabbing on to this pop up and bending it and making it Junk very easy, So thats another downside, The Mastercraft light seems to be bullit proof, However I dont think you could easley add a option like that. Even if you had the part you would have to cut your stock tow point off and have the new one welded on and then your tower powder coated. For me this was a pain but easyer than the other option I just talked about. Plus I think its gonna be so cool when I turn my light on at night
The LED is so bright and It raises up in the dark, Its pretty funny and custom looking. I say its funny because its tottaly needless.

Hey Grant, have you found the SOS feature of that light yet? If you hold the button down for a few seconds, the light will flash SOS! Pretty wild...

When I got the light it had a sticker saying the SOS feature had been discontinued.

Ah, too bad. Of course, I have never had to use it. It is just one of those things that is cool to show people.

I checked it to be sure. Sorry I dont have that feature. Jeff what did they charge you for your pop up light at the dealer, I thought I remember my dealer asking like $700 for it.

I didn't order my boat new. It was a boat that the dealer had been using for a few months before I bought it, so I am not sure what the upcharge was for that option.

I agree that the SOS is almost usless. I would guess if you really needed it, your electrical system just might be dead, rendering it usless anyway. I do think it is another wow look at me gimmick that I don't mind having though.

I had to angle the light , There is no way the light would sit straight in the transome, the pop up light as a Pimp Limp (back) you hardley notice it when the light is up
