    wake issue on 09 210

    hey guys,

have been having some recent issues with our 210! there is a noticeable difference in the shape of the wake from 1 side to the other! looking from the boat the wake on the right hand side is way more mellower compared to the left hand side! left side seems perfect and the shape u would want, whereas the other side is longer and mellower and reallys lacks lip...
with this said i have experimented with different weighting, more weight on one side etc, but instead of the shape changing the wake will crumble... i have tried draining all ballast and still you can notice the difference in shape from side to side...
not sure if it is from prop wash or prop imbalance, it has me beat. Another thing i noticed which was odd is, even when weighted evenly, perfect rooster tail etc, the spray from the side of the boat seems bigger on one side of the boat!
Not sure if any1 has had the same issues??? some help would really be appreciated as riding like this is annoying.

    thanks

I had the same issues with my 07 and 08. I also posted the same type of post with no luck but what I found out was it had to do with the rudder adjustment. On the back of the rudder there is a black tab that is adjustable. I will take a look at my boat tomorrow and let you know where I ended up moving mine to, to get the wakes more even. I know exactly what you are talking about and it is frustrating. After I made the adjustment the wakes evened out more but there is still a little difference.

      hey Latonkaboarder,
thanks for your reply! much appreciated... yeah i have seriously tried everything i can think of but stil no change... i have thought about that black tab on the rudder and checked it out and noticed it wasnt centered so that could change something!!! i will try as soon as i can. I have ridden a few different 210s and it seems that each one is slightly different to the next im not sure how tho? but have noticed that there is a slight difference in each side but like you said it was only a smal difference..
We have a 14.x14 OJ prop on our boat would that have any effect on the wakes shape or it wouldnt matter???

Renni, I just looked at my boat and I have the black tab flush with the left side of the rudder. If I run my hand along side the rudder it runs smooth along the left side and there is a lip if I were to run my hand from the back, forward along the right side of the rudder. I hope this helps. Let me know what you come up with,.

yeah nice, so u mean that the tab should be turned to the left so it lines up with the rudder and doesnt stick out, leaving a small gap on the other side?

I've read this thread with some interest, has this been a common problem for those with the "new" 210 hulls? I thought the whole idea behind the new design was to eliminate the "finicky" nature of the narrower "ski boat" based hulls. I've read about guys complaining on the 230's that the wake will crumble easily if it's not perfectly balanced, and the 220 has been generally denigrated for it's tempermental wake.

Can some of you 210 guys chime in here?

I haven't had this issue outside of balancing the hull side-to-side with weight. I find the new hull is moderately sensitive to weight distribution--not nearly as sensitive as the old hull, but more so than my buddy's Malibu. FWIW, my black tab appears to be centered.

My understanding wrt the main purpose of the redesign in 2007 wasn't to address the finicky nature of the old hull side-to-side but to increase interior room / storage to be competitive with other brands without giving up too much steepness in the wake.

In my experience, wide hulls tend to produce a rampier (less steep) wake than narrow hulls and it looks like CC addressed this by making the portion above the waterline wide and then notching the hull to create a relatively narrow profile below the waterline.

my 210 I dont find to be finiky at all - on the contrary actually. Pretty easy to get the wake dialed for me.

make small adjustments - little by little (left to right) & start at a faster speed, then slow down, rather than slow to fast.

The issue with the rudder adjustment - I have no clue though - mine tracks straight as an arrow - i barely hold the wheel when towing.
