Season is way to short here in WI so no way am I gonna sit on the sidelines just because its alittle crowded. I was out both mid-day Sat and mid-day Monday and the family had a ball. Yes it was alittle to choppy to have the 7yr old knee board but my 12yr old got several runs on her wakeboard and she even tried surfing alittle! Both kids had fun just jumping off the boat and swimming around. I think the key is you just have to tell yourself that the ramps will be crazy and the water will be rough! Just take your time and enjoy what you got!

All day Friday I stared at glass while I carted wheelbarrow load after wheelbarrow load of brick a brack rock down my hill to fix my shoreline. Woke up early on Saturday to grab the last bit of glass, but found out that I woke up 20 minutes too late. The lake was already crap by then and stayed crap for the rest of the weekend. I resigned to short-line wakeskate (wakeskating at surf length), which is something I think my friend and I invented. It works fairly well in the chop, but we did have to deal with a-holes who have no clue how to drive, and I did almost get run over at least twice. Note, this was in Iowa on my Tige, not at Cedar Creek on my Nautique. Now

Here's how I look at it - No holiday boating (including Father's day), it's kind of like New Years drinking, - just not worth it. If I absolutely have to boat on the weekend - and this only happens when company or friends want to go on the water, the boat is in the water by 8 and off the water by 12.
My advice for anyone that boats on a holiday, bring plenty of patience and an anchor, find a place off the the side, toss out the anchor and watch the chaos. And if you really want entertainment on a holiday hang out around a busy boat ramp in the late afternoon/early evening - amazing, simply amazing.

We were off the lake by 8:30 or 9am each morning. Holidays are bad weekends on the water - too people, many visitors not used to boating..... But one of the BEST weekends, is the weekend after a holiday - so enjoy this next weekend !06 Ski Nautique 196 SE (2010)

My ski partner owns a boat dealership that sells Nautiques, Formula's, Hustlers, etc. So my nautique stayed in the lift at the ski lake and we took one of his 38ft Formula's out on the big lake Sunday and yesterday. It's good to know people.Shane Hill

Well let me know next time you go. We have a 9 y/o and a 2 y/o so it is all about the fam deal for me as well. This was my first trip back since 2008 when they shut down all the private resorts. We used to stay at Spanish Flats but stayed up at Putah Creek (now Chaparral Cove or whatever) this time since they still haven't re-opened Spanish Flats. It was weird to see the lake with all the marinas and resorts all but gone...sad. That place is totally different now. Had a great time though...especially without the crowds.2003 SANTE

GoBig, as far as I know, Pleasure Cove is the only place to camp on the lake, unless ou boat your gear out to a cove and lay claim for a few days. Momma likes amenities like showers and toilettes, so I'm stuck camping at a resort.
I'm trying to hit the lake on Friday with some of my buddies. Weekday trips are guys trips (and kids 11 and 14 now that they're out for the summer), weekends are for the family.
I launch outta Markley, I'm going to stop thru Pleasure Cove on Friday and see if I can get a spot for a few days at the end of July or beginning of August. I let you know what it's looking like over there if you'd like???Dixon, CA

I hauled my boat out to my parents' lake house on Eufaula in Oklahoma this last weekend. Had glass conditions on Friday evening and most of Monday. Saturday and Sunday weren't awful, but not great - still had decent boarding water. Holiday weekends aren't bad at all where we are. The water is too muddy for a lot of people to just hang out in so they all head towards the southern part of the lake. We just get a handful of tubers and only a half dozen or so lake roaches driving in circles to mess things up.1996 Sport Nautique w/ EFI GT-40
