Wouldn't perfection be: a cable park that pulled you through the slalom course with "better than ZO" speed control and no wake.

At the Masters, you could see the great wake that the 200 puts out. It is a step forward in slalom wake for sure. As I drive a boat, I drive straight lines a turns at the ends of the lake. Great handling and supreme handling don't really play any difference in my daily activities. If you are a barefooter, there are a few other boats which you should own to have the best BF boat.

Because schools are looking for boats, Moomba is a decent boat (for the money) you just have to remember to compare the wake to the 206 and not the 196. Everything is a compramise!

      I've owned a '99 SNOB, '07 and '09 196 and now a 2010 200.

I can appreciate the regard held for the 196...my '09 was pure gold.

However, I don't understand the logic when you consider...

A near consensus that the 200 is a better 3-event boat than the 196...

The 196 was a world class boat...

The 200 is now better than world class...

The 200 is still not good enough, bring back the 196.

CC met a clear demand from the marketplace - more room, more storage, improve the wake.

And so far the only significant complaint about the product itself is the higher RPM's.

I mean really, you're not going to buy a boat b/c you have to use a curved boom instead of a straight one...you don't like the position of the gauges...you want the 'sports car' feel as you drive in a perfectly straight line in 16.95 second intervals?

Better wake, better tracking, better visibility, more room, more storage, same quality, same reliability, same warranty...props to ClemsonDave for keeping things sane.

each club is different on some of the particulars, but in general the owners / members of the lake are splitting the cost.

And the $60k out-the-door price. I understand price increases, but this premium above the 196 I simply don't feel is warranted. It 'll be interesting to see the year one depreciation.

For the past 2 years I've heard complaints about price with my '07 and '09 196.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard..."I can't believe their charging $k more this year"...I could buy a couple of boats.

Build a better boat, but make sure it doesn't cost more money than what I paid 5 years ago.

Everyone wants a new boat without the new boat price.

I'm not sure we're these 60 - 70k price numbers are coming from...I think there's a bit of mythology involved.

Loaded Team Edition w/ every option and upgrade at MSRP, maybe...but as ClemsonDave said, my 200 will be way lower than that.

And if you don't mind paying that much, please call me :-)

welcome to the world wakeboarders live in. off brand but a loaded x-star with every option available and trailer is gonna run 90,000 out the door or more. boat=bust out another thousand. we have a weak dollar, and cc knows core skiers usually have money to buy their boats new and are using that fact to their advantage.

How much is the price difference between a new 2009 196 SE model vs the new 2010 200 ?

I looked over ever inch of of the new 200 at the February boat show and I was really impressed, but I will say, and I was floored at the price. We were looking to purchase a boat, but not at the price and ended but buying a used 196.

If you took the price of an end of the season promo '09 196 Limited vs end of the year promo '10 200 Team, you'd be looking at about a 12-15% price increase. There is usually about a 4% price difference from year to year anyway. Plus, the 200 has more stock features and open bow. A 196 LE would be pretty close to a 200 CB SE.

Yes, the 200 is very expensive. I cannot answer whether it is worth that much, but I can honestly see why it is more expensive than the 196. Everything down to the stitching is of a better grade.

Here is another story I'll bore you with. I skied a tournament today at a fabulous lake. Unfortunately, we were cursed with 20-35mph winds blowing right down the course (whitecaps). I had my 200 in my 2nd round and a '09 196 in the 3rd round. I start at 28off. The spray behind the 196 was so bad, I had to start my 'pre pullout' position 20' wider just so I could see. I was being pelted with water. No such issues with my boat. This is an extreme case, but showed the strengths of the 200.

Price quote from my dealer for a 200TE (ZR6) $61k. Again, I don't want to bash the 200, I just don't like it as much as the 196. It's simply my unapologetic opinion. I'm glad those of you who own 200's love them. I'm also glad the CC is selling the heck out of them.

is that with a trailer? and you know you can talk that down significanly when buying new. i know when my buddy ordered his 05 sante with 330 engine it was 56,000 with a tandem galv. trailer. that was 5 years ago. honestly doesn't sound like much of a stretch to me from the 196-200. the price may not increase too much. they just made a new mold and designed the whole thing so maybe it will stay there for a couple years.

That's actually not a bad price. The ZR6 is a VERY expensive option. The general consensus for us die hard slalom skiers is that the 5.7 is better for us. Of course, there are people that need the 6.0 for other disciplines.

Can't go wrong with either boat.

The price difference between my 09 196 Team with the 409 with Ramlin trailer and a similarly equipped 200 was roughly 10K and the 60K number, without tax, is about right. Money is relative and it is a personal decision as to whether the 10K justifiable or not.

Maybe if I used my boat strictly for slalom skiing I would see it differently but for what I do, which is pretty much everything, the 196 fits my needs better than the 200. Fortunately I got exactly what i wanted when I ordered my last one so I think I will stick with it for a while.

Here's my question: How much different is the build quality of the 07 vs the 09? I am going to say that they were built EXACTLY the same way with the same materials. So why would there be a price increase (given the same options). The R&D costs are minimal (if any). I understand that a new hull design (200) will increase a price due to R&D, tooling, etc. The 2 200s that I have inquired about were $57K and $60K plus I wanted a couple of things those boats did not have.

I have been reading this thred from it's start till now. Here is a option!!! Their are plenty of 08-09 196 promo boats out their that are priced right. Rather then make a lot of noise about the price or dislike of the 200 just go buy one of these promos and get on with it! Nautiques have moved on. And are building ski 200's. Now maybe if enough of you that want a new boat but do not want the new boat price and want a stripped down model 200 then their may be some merit in another deck on the 200 hull that is more of a trational layout. I think that senerio may be more attractive to the builder than putting the 196 back into production.
My .02 from one that has currently both boats in the fleet!
