I love the 200 and do not have any issues with it. I just want CC to offer the 196 as another boat in its line up. There has to be a way for them to offer up a closed bow 196 as a basic entry level competition ski boat for a few less $$.
There is a market for them out there and they have the molds to make them.

Yea that's what I figure. Wish I could remember the prop size on my 196. There is probably some difference there too. Gear ratio is the same.

I have not heard of any big changes for '11.

My sweet 08 196 that I bought from MS is for sale. Pulled Chad Scott to 3 at 41 off at 34mph yesterday in a tournament.

Man, I don't know how you can say it's quieter than an LXI. Geezus, I was **** near deaf after a round of driving 36mph skiers in the 200s down here.

Shane, what are planning on buying after your 196 is gone? They seem to be selling quickly out there.

I'm convinced ya'll have some screwed up boats down there. I don't see how two people can have such differing opinions. There is not one person around here that can find any fault with my boat other than the price. OB from Atlanta came up and he was even sold on the open bow. He loved my boat and was a die hard closed bow guy like me. Perfect on a 100 degree day. Built in AC!

I agree that it's loud at 36, but not any louder than the '08 LXi at our lake. The 200 is much quieter than the LXi watching from shore too.

Fuel usage is going to be higher although when you get done purchasing a 50G+ boat I'm not sure how much a fuel penalty is really going to matter.

Engine reliability running at significantly higher RPM's (20% ballpark) is an unknown but I suspect should not be a factor longterm. These engines have been around for a while and failures are uncommon.

Cost. This is a hangup for me. I am going to have a hard time paying more for less. The 200 is roughly 10 grand more than a comparably equipped 196 and does less in terms of pulling skiers. The slalom wake is awesome, so is the wake on a 196. The show club I belong to uses 196's because they pull everything you can throw at them without problems. 4 tier pyramid, multiple barefooters, jump, it all works and the limitations are usually the skiers and not the equipment. Soon the two we have will need to be replaced and unfortunately the 200 is not going to be on the list of boats we will look at because of the lack of power, speed and drivability. Curious that CC would choose to develop a boat that ignores a segment where the 196 has been very popular and gives them very high visibility.

Has anyone had any experience with the 200 equipped with the 6.0?

LOL. Don't get me wrong. We have a 200 coming. But the 3 we have down here now as promos are freaking LOUD inside. I agree, from the shore the LXI is louder. The 08 lxi at your lake probably was ordered without the sound deadener. Those are loud inside. Ones with the sound deadener package are pretty quiet inside.

My ski partner is the Nautique dealer in Houston. He's got a 200 coming for us to use that he'll flip once or twice a year.

                              Thread issue

This thread has gotten off track in that the origional intent was to show support for the 196 and to bring it back as an alternate model for people that want them. I am a fan of the 200 and love to ski behind it.
J2nh brings up a good point and its in line with what ski clubs and show ski clubs across the nation want. They want the 196.
Show Ski and ski club budgets are not set up for 50-60K boats. It is very important that CC keeps boats in the hands of show ski clubs across the USA. To go to a ski show and see Ski Nautiques being used is huge. I was molded into a CC Kool aid drinker after seeing shows at Cypress Gardens back in the 70s and 80s.

Noise?? The 08 197 TT was the worst. That boat was loud.

You're 100% correct. My family bought our first MasterCraft back in the 80's after seeing one at a ski show in Tomahawk, WI. Watching that boat turn on a dime and pull a mountain of people was awe inspiring at the time. Show's are excellent marketing tools for manufacturers.
