    01 Super Air

I'm looking at crossing over to the dark side but I would like a little help before I do.

I'm going to go and look at a loaded 01 Super Air. It has every option that was available in 01 except the the bigger motor. It has a big stereo but no tower speakers or tower lights. Do I need to pay attention to anything special on the boat? Any problem area's? It's got about 140 hours on it. What do you think would be a fair price?

I will find out about the gauges before I buy it. If they haven't been replaced I will have the owner do it.

I own a 2000 SAN with over 500 hrs and all still works great. My only issues have been a bad hr. meter/tach and ballast pump. Is this a local boat? (I live just south of you in Corvallis) If so, chances are NW Ski and Wake in Portland may be familiar with it. Bruce (the owner) is a good guy and may be able to provide some insight.
Regarding issues - the only guage I hear about consistently failing is the tach/hr. meter. - its a very easy one to replace, however.
For a fair value - to boattraderonline and do a search for similar crafts. I do know that the 00, 01,and 02 CC V-drives are in demand and hard to find - especially here in the NW.
    Good luck.

Yes it is a local boat West Linn area he purchased it from Bruce. I called the owner and asked him about the gauge problem. He said that he had them replaced right after he purchased the boat. The problem he was having was condensation in the gauge. Since then he has had zero problem with the boat.

I've emailed Bruce a couple of times and he seems like a real nice guy. I might call him and ask him about the boat. I've looked on boat trader and about every other place on the internet but the prices are just all over the place. I'm just looking for a fair deal.

Where do you go boating at?

Our home lake is Fern Ridge (aka "The Ditch") just west of the Eugene Airport. Its about a 40 min. drive from my house.
Bruce may be able to give you some quidelines regarding whats a fair price. He has tossed some numbers at me regarding trading my boat in for new one - but thats on trade for a new one - at $55k+... :o)
Bottom line is - if you get a decent deal on well cared for 2001 SAN - I think you will be real happy with the boat in the long run.

It was a sweet boat. It didn't have a folding tounge and we must have that. He also said Bruce would give him alot on a trade in on a 60k boat like you. We never got to price but I think he want low 40's for it. Needless to say I'm not paying that much for a 4 year old boat when you can get a new one for a little more. So, needless to say he still has it and I'm still looking.

Is Fern Ridge still leaking? When are they going to drain it to fix the pipe?

Too bad about the non-folding tongue and potential high price. I bet that Ryan Trailers in Portland could fix the tongue issue. Regarding price - I would think something in the high 30's may be fair...
The dam at Fern Ridge is "leaking" some but the problem seems to be not as bad as first feared. It will have to be fixed in the near future, however, which means we will have to drive a bit futher to ride for the 2-3 years it will take to rebuild
Good luck with your search for a SAN.
