After the dealer replaced the transmission and plate the noise is worse!!! They are going to work with
PCM on this one. Its really hard to believe this would happen.
My friend is a mechanic and he had a close look at it. He feels it is backlashing in the gears.
When you move the drive shaft back and forth by hand i can hear it also. My dealer will fix
it one way or another so I will post the next step soon.
I am not sure I buy the gear lash thing. This, of course, is revering to the spacing between the gear teeth that allows one of the gears to rotate slightly. This only happens when under no load (so you can move it by hand) or under a fluctuating load. You say it happens at idle speed or slightly higher and, if your engine is running smooth, I can't see how it would rattle...but I have been wrong before.
I assume that they replaced the gear ruduction when they did the transmission?
You can use a short length of hose to help isolate the noise too. Put one end to your ear and probe with the other.
i thought maybe the engine is not running smooth but it seems to. It seems to depend on load with more people in the boat it seems to go away . With 1 or 2 and sometimes 3 it is there 90% of the time.
If it does not get fixed guess i will be looking at an 2011 !
PCM's geat idea is to try a team prop used on wakeboad boats....That makes total sense to a
Slalom skier!!!!!! Heads are going to roll soon. It may be getting time for a new boat!

Possibly looking into picking up a 70'2-80's Nautique to rebuild as a ski boat
They should at least be giving you a loaner so you dont miss out on the entire summer. I can understand if it had a season under its belt, but not one right off the manufacturing line.

The boat still works fine its just has a loud noise just in gear but at skiing speed 34 or 36 its fine.
I have been using the boat so I have not lost any ski time but I just want it fixed proper.
I spoke to CC about it today and I will push on them next week since my deal only has a lame solution
This may sound ignorant on my part, but I've never bought a new boat. Can you Lemon Law a boat after three attempts at the same repair? Sounds like they should have kissed your butt in the beginning and not blown smoke up it instead when you first brought the issue to their attention. For what a new boat costs, plus the way the economy is, they should be falling over themselves to correct the problem.
