    use gm hybrid engine?

could pcm use one of the yukon "hybrid" engines that switches from 4cyl. to 8cyl.? it's a pretty cool engine from what i have read. I believe you can set it to stay in 8 mode also, but not 100% on that. supposedly gets 20% better fuel economy.

The Displacement on Demand engine switches from V8 to V4 mode in certain driving conditions in the vehicles. Many times, it is slowing to a stop sign/light, cruising on level or down hill roads with little/light load on the engine. The switch is within microseconds and is seemless to the driver. This is not any type of "hybrid" system. Based on my trucks performance and tasks and my boat's performance and tasks, I highly doubt that you would ever get the boat to switch to V4 mode for any time at all.

Adding batteries and an electric motor would add a lot of weight to a boat and expense to the purchase to make a boat a true hybrid. I doubt that you would see much in the way of fuel savings. Pulling skiers/boarders seems to be very different than stop and go traffic in your car.
