    Someone hurt our boat!

So, last July we picked up our boat, '02 Air, from a dealer 5 hours away. In the purchase price was some gelcoat work that we would bring it back for. The dealer hooked us up with a good friend of his to bring the boat down for us the beginning of Nov. We went down two weeks ago to pick it up and everything was fixed but a NEW LARGE spider crack!(at least 6"x4") Grrr!! We left without the boat.(waste of 10 hours there)
So, now that everyone is back from the holiday we heard back from the dealer. Of the $430 to repair the boat, they will pay $80! They say the damage couldn't of happened when it was with them, we must have done it and not noticed! Before the boat went down we cleaned it all up and would have noticed that. I don't know what to do now, but I would enjoy giving the dealer a colorful display of my feelings for them. So, unless we can figure out how to twist their arm we have a $350 bill.
Moral of the story, always deliver the boat yourself and go over it with the dealer before you leave. That way they can't screw you! I'm loving Nautique dealers so far. This is the icing on the cake of problems from this dealer..

AirJeff, I was in the exact same situation as you are now. Fortunately, mine was only over a matter of about $45. I can't imagine being in that same situation with the prices as high as yours.

Be nice, don't lose a friend, but give them all emotions they deserve. You're still their customer, make sure they remember that. Always keep the customer happy, even an obnoxious 15-year-old can figure out that...

Ya, problem is we haven't won any with this dealer. It's not my closest dealer, just the one I bought the boat from. Needless to say, we won't ever be going back once all this is finished.

Well, if you ever get a new boat, you won't even be allowed to buy from him... lol. That should settle things pretty quickly.

I just find it a little funny that out of all parts of what I said to reply to, you reply to the part where I was just messin' around and quoting a James Bond movie that I thought no one would care or notice...

I'd contact the regional folks at Midwest CC and give them an earful. If that doesn't work, I'd call customer service at the factory. Keep going up until you get satisfaction or you get sick of it. You didn't cause the damage. The dealer or the dealer's agent caused it. I wouldn't let this go too easily.
