fat sac location question

I have a 2001 air nautiuqe with the stock ballast. Where is a good place to store fat sacs for an awsome surf wave. We surf goofy (right side)

not sure about surfing, but a buddy of mine who had a great wake used to put a 750 parallel with the rear seat, and had a huge sac in the locker, along with some added weight. i don't remember it exactly, but the 750 made such a nice wake.

You may want to clarify what type of boat you have. You indicated an “Air Nautique” on this post, but you have referred to your boat as a “Super Air Nautique” in others. Knowing exactly which model you have would better enable fellow PN members to better help you.I would assume you would want to weight a “Super Air” different than the “Air”. So posting the wrong boat model may steer you off course, when receiving responses.

Exactly. As Gride's advice would appear to be geared toward the direct drive Air not Super Air.

I don't want to hijak the thread, but I have an 01 Air (DD) and I am cuirous about this as well. In addition to weighting, what is your opinion on getting a surf wake out of this hull. Is it decent? Does the lower freeboard in the rear cause any problems? Also, with the prop rotation on these, which side is better?

From what i can gather, the wet part of the hull is pretty similar to the Super Air, but I can't ever get a confirmation on that - side to side they look the same, but it seems many of those with a Super Air say it is not (truth or pride, who knows?? )

Ballast

Here is my set up on our 211 which you can probably adapt to your boat. I have 3 sacs and surf regular. (1) I put a 350# in the bow along the port side and put the bow filler cushion in to keep it on the seat; (2) I have a 370# fly high sac that fits beneath the aft part of the observers seat bench; (3) then I have another 350# sac that I place into the stern walk thru on the port side. Things improved greatly with the sac located in the bow, as this lengthened the pocket of the wave and allowed us to ride many feet further away from the swim step. Then I fill the belly and the port ballast tanks.

Caution: watch what the added ballast does to your boat handling, the engine compartment vent(s) and the gas tank vent. In the set up I use there has not been any issue with the vents. You also need to know to wait to turn around for the rider until after you have "killed" your following wake. Last, when I need to turn around to get a fallen rider, I always turn to port when i am weighted on the port side. Turning to starboard could casue the boat to roll to port (the weighted side).

Wife rides goofy, so the bow sac moves over to stbd, the stern sac moves into the stbd locker, and the sac under the bench goes on the floor or cooler seat -- but there is less volume in that location.

You just need to try a bunch of combinations, as i did, and find out what works.

actually i'm talking about a vdrive with rear ballast tanks. i believe it was either a 2000 or 2001. had the N on the side.

Sorry it is a super air nautique. I have been told it is the 210.
