    LS1 in a '97 Ski.....

Pondering putting my '97 Ski up for sale towards the end of the summer.

Not to get political, but I feel another bubble will be bursting between Sept.-Nov.

I'm the second owner of my boat. The original owner ordered the boat with the upgraded LS1 engine. Does anyone know what that upcharge at the time of the order with the dealer was? Ballpark?

Curious as I wanted to use it as one of the selling points.

    Thanks.

If it is a Chevy motor probably the Apex 320hp, in 99' the Upcharge from a GT-40 to the Apex was only a couple hundred bucks.

I believe the Ford GT-40 was the top of the line engine in 1997.

PCM/CC has never offered an LS1.

You have a regular old 350 (Apex) like Quinner pointed out. I do not recall if it was an upcharge over the GT40, but I think the GT40 would largely be considered to be the best motor available during those years.

Ya, the Apex was about an additional $1000 over the GT-40 I believe. there never was an LS1- that was Malibu.

However, the engine really wasn't an upgrade. It added about one mph to the top speed but didn't have the torque of the GT-40 and didn't perform as well overall. It also drank more fuel. Still a decent engine though.

When I ordered my 99' to go from the GT-40 to the Apex was only about $200-$300 add'l, the Python on the other hand was about $6k IIRC. Considered the Apex for the add'l HP but Vern Kramer talked me out of it stating very much the same things as above + he said GT-40 would be the easier powerplant to obtain parts for if needed.
