Late last week I got a chance to spend some time down at Correct Craft’s world headquarters, and I was given the chance to see and drive the 2011 Sport Nautique 200. The boat sits on a slightly modified Ski Nautique 200 hull, but obviously has a very different deck layout than the DD Ski Nautique 200. The boat is simply amazing. The slalom wake is extremely good. The pros who have skied behind it are very happy with it. In fact, after skiing behind it, one of the Team Nautique skiers commented, “Thanks for blowing my mind”!
The wakeboard wake is great as well, especially when you remember that this is a 20’ boat. Several pros have ridden behind it, and were extremely impressed with the wake when the tanks were full. I didn’t ride behind it, but the wake looked crisp and clean, with good transition and very respectable size for a boat of this size. The ballast tanks add over 700 pounds of weight.
The surf wake, even with just stock ballast, was impressive. There were three of us in the boat, and the surf wake was very clean, with good definition and shape.
The interior layout is similar in design to the pre-2007 Super Air Nautique 210, but with some really nice innovative features. The dash is set up like the DD 200, with the LINC system offset to the right, and the left side of the dash is low and flat. This gives incredible visibility, and this dash is quickly becoming my favorite dash layout ever offered by Nautique.
This boat handles like a Nautique – pretty much flawlessly. I was especially impressed with how flat the boat stayed in sharp fast turns. The boat we were in had the ZR-409 Catanium engine, which obviously produced a ton of power for a boat of this size.
I think this boat is going to be a big seller. People who live on lakes with boat length restrictions will be thrilled with this offering. I have never been a fan of boats that tried to do everything well because there were always compromises in one area or another. This boat actually seems to have come very close to meeting the demands of all disciplines of towed watersports. I don’t think I have ever seen a boat that was so capable in all areas. If you thought the 211 was a good crossover boat, wait until you see this boat.
