    Buying my First Nautique

Hey Everyone, I am looking at purchasing a 1997 Sport Nautique. I have never owned a wakeboard boat before and was wondering if there is anything specifically I need to look for?

The boat has under 800 hours on the EFI engine and has been kept in a sling on a freshwater lake for its whole life. I have some pictures and the boat looks great from a paint and upholstery perspective. Per the owner the Boat has been winterized every year and had all routince checkups. I currently have a boston whaler that was in great condition when I purchased it . I bought it from a reputable boat mechanic and havent had any regrets. Now its time for something that more people will enjoy riding on.

I think I can pick this boat up for 10k. Sound like a good deal?

    Sounds good to me

I really think you'll enjoy the sport. I'm assuming you are entry to mid level wake boarders. If so the sport should be a really nice boat for you.

Thanks Rick...nothing more than mid-level...plus tubing, waterskiing and general cruising around. Other boat is great for fishing and taking chop but a little uncomfortable for a whole day on the lake with the family!

To me, $10,000 sounds a little low.
Be sure to test drive and get a look in person before you buy it.
You will be very happy with this boat if it is in the condition you stated and you get it for the price you stated.

        Best of luck.

I will refrain from commenting on the tubing.

I bought a 97 Super Sport/SAN this spring, it is awesome! The kids love to tube and my frinds and I love to board.

Spent a lot more than 10k.

Price seems a bit low, but I don't think you can go wrong with a 97. They are great boats and the hull design that year was very popular.

My last ride was a '97 Sport. That was the last year that it shared a hull with the SAN/Super Sport. Great year, great boat! I always was a fan of that tapered transom look. Seems like a good buy at $10K if it is in good shape. Post some pics and welcome...

Just an FYI. There should be no paint on that boat. The colored hull should be gel coat. The Lettering are decals.

If there is paint, you may have a problem.

I have a 97 Sport, bought it brand new in 98. Put a tower on that boat if it doesn't have one and IMO it is probably the best Sport out there.
