Tonight we're taking some of my wife's family out on the lake to watch the fireworks. She came home with a bunch of bags of chips to take out with us and I kinda balked about it (visions of chips and eventually ants all over my nice clean Nautique). It's one thing when it's just 3 or 4 of us, another with a full boat (3 kids included). Am I way off in left field on being so totally unfun? Are there snacks that work better and aren't as likely to leave a mess?

do you people have these rules for our cars as well? eating in your boat won't do ANYTHING that can't be undone, if anything at all happens anyways. you don't allow beers in your boat chassmann? do you let people wear sunscreen or just tell them to get skin cancer? ease up. it's a holiday.

I was letting kids snack in the boat for two summers but shut it down last year. They just became too sloppy and careless. The boat would look clean and then I'd wash it and a load of chips, crackers, cheerios, whatevers would show up. I already had rules against staining and sticky food like oreo's, chocolate, cheetos, nut bars, etc.
We ski from the dock so I now leave all snacks in the truck and tell them if they want to snack, they can sit on the pier and eat. Nobody has complained....and now they don't even ask. Newbie guests don't even know the difference.
Oh, and no beer in the boat nor at the pier. Not before, during, or after. Drink at home...not in the boat.

snacks are ok on mine. i usually buy them though. pretzels, granola bars, and peanuts are easy to clean up. no dorritos or cheetos. booze is ok also, as long as no drivers are drinking and no sticky punch-type drinks.

No food or animals in the boat. Not just kids make a mess but adults do a good job especially if there not the ones
cleaning the boat! I keep my seats lightly coated with Meguiras 57. It helps with the suntan lotion and other dirt.
Being from Canada we are mostly beer drinkers in the summer and I learned long ago that beer never seemed to stain my dads pool table so i new it would alwasys clean up good in the boat! Pop and juice can stain.
