    Problems with Perfect Pass

I am having problems with my PerfectPass. The system is on, and when I throttle up while getting the person out of the hole, the PerfectPass beeps as if it is engaged but does not hold the speed. It does not show the '#' so I know I have enough throttle. For example, if I have it set for 17 mph, I'll throttle up to 20 mph, the sytem beeps but never takes control - it'll beep but then the speed either remains at 20+ mph or will drop below 17. The system is not searching for the speed and jumping up and down. It beeps but nothing happens.

I also notice at slow speeds sometimes the gauge shows 0.0 mph. Problem with the paddle perhaps in both cases?

What year is your boat? Is it DBW?

I just helped setup a MC that was DBW. It wouldn't engage when we were running baselines at 36. We went into settings and ran some sort of test where we ran the boat between 3,500 and 4,200 rpm. Afterward, Perfect Pass adjusted some setting and everything worked like a charm.

It is a 2001 Super Air Nautique. Not sure what DWB is though. I checked the paddle wheel since the original post and it spins freely and all the fins look good. Any thoughts?

Have you tried turning the knob on the servo motor to see if maybe it is locked up. It should turn freely. If it doesnt turn its frozen. We had issues with our perfect pass we called them directly and they have great customer service. They will walk you step by step and figure out whats wrong. PerfectPass.com hope that helps.

sounds like it is running in RPM mode and simply falling off plane? Are you in RPM or Speed mode?

I run it in speed mode, not rpm mode. I tried turning the knob to the servo motor. There is no slack and it turns.

I just had stereo work done on my boat. They wired a WS420 in the dash, and in doing so took the dash off to wire it. Did they mess up the PerfectPass wiring you think? I would imagine if they did mess the wiring up, there would be no power to the PerfectPass.

Any other pointers? Else I'll call PerfectPass to troubleshoot.

If you hit menu and ^ at the same time, you'll get into the additional settings menu. Somewhere in there, there is a voltage and servo motor test. Run those and see what it tells you. If you call perfect pass, have the voltage handy. Probably the first question they'll ask you.

make sure the knob set screw is tight on the shaft of the servo
                    Does it display speed correctly?
                    Call perfect pass.
